I have to admit that I have never read `Watchmen’. More specifically, before I saw the teaser for the film last summer, I don’t assume I’d even heard of it. The only two amusing books I really cared for when I was younger were `Superman’ and `Batman’, having more to do with the movies, cartoons and TV shows than the valid comical books themselves.

I decided to consume up the Blu-ray of the `Watchmen’ motion silly as an alternative to reading the graphic fresh in preparation for going to peruse the movie because I conception it was an engrossing view.

I won’t derive into the myth and characters as most of you who are reading this are probably well versed already. Let’s unbiased say that I can gawk now what all the hoopla is about. Instead, let me talk about the true presentation of the “motion comical”.
The Blu-ray image is outstanding. Each image on veil is unruffled of a single panel from the amusing complete with the dialog bubbles. The colors are vibrant and the lines are crisp. Many of the images seem to jump moral off the cover at you. The obtain is quite wonderful as the music helps to place the mood of what is going on. Having heard some excerpt’s from the film fetch I have to say as of suitable now I contemplate the `motion comic’ accept is more suiting to the sage. The sound effects are also well done.
The bid acting is generous for being performed by one person. Many of the reviews I have read seem to have a scrape with a man reading a woman’s share. Having listened to many audio books on the road or at work, I can say that I did not secure it distracting in the least. Having said that, if this “motion laughable” format becomes favorite, I deem having an real lisp cast would be a fabulous plan.
The pacing is deliberate and maintains a somber mood as the entire 12 fraction fable unfolds over a period of 5 hours and 25 minutes, including opening and closing credits for each tale. Getting through the entire disc in one sitting may be difficult but it may be more difficult to turn off.
The extras are minimal. They include a 3 itsy-bitsy mini-doc illustrating how the eye of the droll influenced the contemplate of the upcoming film, and a 10 runt eye at the unusual `Wonder Woman’ keen feature. I found the inclusion of the latter to be a “filler feature” as it was released the same day as this `Watchmen’ motion comical and it was included with the previous release of `Batman: Gotham Knight’. A sight at how they created the `motion comic’ would have seemed a better choice but I’m not going to complain about things that aren’t. Also, peculiar to Blu-ray is a `WB Live’ sneak eye at the `jailbreak’ scene from the upcoming feature film.
I have seen all of the unusual Warner Bros. Curious features and I must admit that this is my celebrated. The `motion comic’ is an righteous opinion and was pulled of quite well on this first attempt. I hope this format catches on as it would be gigantic to look some of the stout graphic novels like `Batman: The Long Halloween’ or `Arkham Asylum’ or any number of others approach to “life”.
As for this release, it’s probably more geared to hardcore fans but I found great to delight in and couldn’t imagine a better procedure to experience this spectacular memoir.

I loved this from the first few seconds into it; after the credits had finished rolling! The music creates a powerfully interpreted atmosphere, and the directing is perfect. The only thing I hated was that there were no female voices. One actor narrated the whole thing, doing all the voices, and altering his tone and inflection slightly for each character. While he did an generous job on all the male characters, I assume the best come for this would have been a two-person team of a guy for all the male voices, and one female for all the female parts. If this had been an audio book, the one actor reach would have sufficed, since in those cases, the actor merely provides vocalization for the dialogue, and it doesn’t matter what gender it is rendered in. But in an Illustrated Graphic Unusual, you actually Explore the characters, and one never loses the disconcertment (I checked; that is actually a word) of “seeing” a male express being uttered by a female character, especially the Same male yell. I hope that they redo this one day soon, with that in mind. If they do, I will capture it again, that is how worthy I liked this. While making a routine delivery in a desolate location, he is met by a miniature family of Inuit with a seemingly tubercular daughter (Annabella Piugattuk) ) who clearly needs medical attention. They quiz that Johnny recall her to the hospital in Yellow Knife but Johnny refuses to do so. When they bribe him with some significant ivory tusks, he has a change of heart, taking the young woman on board. Unfortunately, the diminutive aircraft experiences technical difficulties, and they demolish in the frozen tundra, a couple of hundred miles from civilization, but are physically relatively unhurt by the break.
Thinking that he would do better on his bear, Charlie divests himself of the young woman, leaving her with some supplies but believing that he is consigning her to her death. He is a young man with small respect for the Inuit people. He simply does not stare the value in their culture, which he does not understand, and marches off into the bleak wilderness on his contain. He, who is a whiz with machinery, has shrimp knowledge on how to survive in that bleak but fine wasteland. Consequently, by the time he is about a week into his scuttle through this unforgiving tundra, he is overcome by nature and the vicissitudes of this harsh and alien environment. Fortunately for him, the young woman he left slow is far more resourceful than he is. She catches up with him, finding him on the brink of death, and nurses him encourage to life, becoming the key to his survival.

It is only after all this happens that he bothers to learn that she is called Kanaalaq. Slowly, he learns to connect with this young woman in a plot that he has never connected with anyone. He learns to relish her, discovering that she is magnificent both inside and out. Through his relationship with Kanaalaq, whom he begins to regard as a diminutive sister, he learns how to appreciate another human being, becoming reborn as a better person in the process. He also learns to connect to the land and, in doing so, finds the strength to survive his ordeal. Kanaalaq ends up giving Charlie Halliday the gift of life.
What happens to Charlie and Kanaalaq, how they manage, and how their relationship develops is at the heart of this film. It is the memoir of two cultures that arrive together and seamlessly mesh in order to survive out on the frozen tundra. It is an intensely appealing and deeply personal film that is simply glorious. With a minimum of dialogue, this film sends out a major message.
Barry Pepper is terrific in the role of Charlie Halliday, a flawed human being who manages to overcome his shortcomings and become all the better for his ordeal. He infuses the character with a positive charisma, so that when his shortcomings become apparent, the viewer does not detest him but, rather, hopes that he will explore the error of his ways and come by redemption. Newcomer Annabella Piugattuk is simply sensational, giving a well-nuanced and very touching performance in the role of the dying Inuit girl, Kanaalaq. Her role is central to the film, and she is a breakout star. They searched for six months, until they found her, having auditioned hundreds of young women in the process, as they were looking for someone indigenous to the station to maintain the female lead. The casting director discovered her at a local teen dance in the Northwest Territories, and what a accumulate she is.
This Canadian production was the recipient of numerous Genie nominations, which are the Canadian equivalent of Academy Award nominations, and are conferred by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. I have to say that, in original years, I have been mightily impressed with the originality, quality, and sophistication of Canadian films. They are sometimes simply the best films to be found. This one is no exception. Deftly directed by Charles Martin Smith, who is also an actor, he fully understands the opinion that less is oftentimes more and exacts grand performances from the entire cast. Moreover, he perfectly captures the majesty, beauty, and sheer bleakness of the landscape that acts as the backdrop for this dazzling myth. Bravo!
The 2003 Canadian film is one of those independent films that I call a “gem”. It’s a simple yarn. Dwelling in 1953 in northern Canada, a bush pilot, played by Barry Pepper, agrees to wing a seriously ill young Inuit woman, who seems to have tuberculosis, to a town where she can obtain medical attention. He’s reluctant to do this but her family bribes him with a pair of walrus tusks. Played by first-time actress Annabella Piugattuk, this Intuit woman is outstanding in her role, as she helps the pilot to survive after their plane crashes and also teaches him some vital lessons about life.
Yes, this is a hackneyed sage with no right surprises. But under the expert hand of writer/director Charles Martin Smith, the film comes out better than the sum of its parts. I found myself completely drawn in and also learned a lot about survival in the frozen north. I applaud the director’s decision to expend an authentic Inuit actress in the main role which made the film seem valid. It was well-paced with unbiased enough tension to preserve me wondering what would happen next.
This is a beautiful film and I definitely recommend it. And it is especially first-rate to leer during a summer heat spell.

Actually this is a very superb film, largely carried by the strong cast of John Travolta, Kyra Sedgewick, Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall. Yes there are a few corny moments especially towards the slay but they were forgivably brief not tediously drawn out, compared to your typical Hollywood tearjerker which this is not. I won’t give away the ending except to say that it is not one of your dime a dozen and-they-lived-happily-ever-after things.
“Phenomenon” actually has a lot of Eastern philosophy slack it—the belief that we are all connected at a deep cosmic and psychical level which most of us never imagine nor dare to access, as well as the Fresh Ageish notion that we only exhaust about 10% of our brains’ stout capabilities.

Yes, they are in terror, but they calm doubt, as George doubts, that he was given a gift as a mistake, but when all is said and done, we know the “lustrous light” made the good choice, that he was able to even handle his acquire mortality. “Glory” is an exceptional film. A suitable legend of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the account of the first sunless unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Being a Civil War reenactor, as a group we tend to be very skeptical of the historical movies that hollywood provides.Glory is probably the only movie that almost every reenactor liked and sung the praises for. Glory stands out as a masterpiece of this bad time in the nations history. The cast was outstanding. Broderick is entirely convincing in his role as the idealistic young Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who commanded ONE of the first all unlit units of the Civil war. Morgan freeman captures the persona of the “wise, extinct seargeant” that is a classic motif of the war movie genre. However to me the actor who steals the exhibit is without a doubt Denzel Washington. Washington gave even us rebs someone to care for(even as he was taking down 2 and 3 rebs at a time) as he went from the aroused, rebellious young private(and for kindly reason) to the sparkling soldier.

The position of the movie is consistent, and came across as a factual Epic to the audience, and not fair a lecture. The film captured the extremely racist attitudes of the time, and the remark hell that the characters went through to overcome it. When Shaw is killed by Confederates, the get picks up with a perfect tune as the 54th makes their final assault. But most importantly the movie does not bore the average viewer like Gettysburg did with its hours of talk. The movie takes a very top-notch record, throws in some sizable characters, and follows it to a T. There is no wasted scene in Glory(which is more then we can say for other Civil war attempted movies) . This made it a joy for both Civil War buff and regular viewer alike.
Now for the large sticking point. Historical accuracy. To this the movie scores a rather well glean. Definite the final battle was not 100 percent good, and even the earliar skirmish in the woods(known in the war as the Battle for Sol Legare Island) . But this movie was not a documentary. Its goal was not to give a blow by blow history of the 54th… unprejudiced to issue their general “tale”. With that intent, the movie greatly lived up to its accolades for its accuracy. The battle scenes were outstanding and gave war its “hellish” understanding that was absent in Gettysburg to mammoth degree. Only Private Ryan beats this movie in its finish at showing the viewer a taste of War.
Glory has also been arguable the most influential Civil War movie of all time. Tens of Thousands of people who had never picked up a Civil war book in their life, became curved on this time period from Glory. That will perhaps be one of its finer legacies. How many african Americans(and Americans in general) became aware for the first time of those Blacks who wore a uniform in the Civil War from this movie. Countless. How many people do not know that honored legacy now that Glory has approach out. Very few.

The five star rating I gave Night of the Living Listless is, of course, for the current, uncut, unadulterated edition. The fresh is, quite simply, the most unpleasant movie I’ve ever seen, even when compared to anxiety classics like Diabolique (the unusual French version), Psycho, Rosemary’s Baby, Halloween and The Shiny. I saw NOTLD when I was 9 years aged on Creature Features at midnight after a funeral. I had nightmares for the next two nights. The film mild gives me the chills whenever I contemplate it (usually at Halloween) .

When the 30th Anniversary Edition came out, I bought it on VHS as I was fascinating to witness what they termed as “novel footage.” What I got was a ghastly mess that butchered the unique film, removed the fresh music for a dreadful synthesizer get and added pointless footage that makes the viewer want to grind his teeth down to the gums. One of the additions is a unusual character: a fire and brimstone preacher. While the acting in the unusual is amateurish, at best, the “actor” who plays the preacher makes the novel cast ogle like Oscar winners by comparison. He snarls, and howls and gnashes his teeth like he has rabies. Even more ridiculous is the extra footage of Bill Hinzman — the “cemetary zombie” in the modern. The extra footage shows Hinzman’s character emerging from the grave, then cuts to the new 1968 opening footage with Judith O’Dea and Russell Streiner. It’s absolutely ridiculous as Hinzman looks 30 years older in the recent footage. In addition, there are more zombies and a fresh ending to the film that makes no sense whatsoever. This “recent” version is a share of trash that desecrates the most grisly film of all time. Avoid it like the plague!

Okay…as I’d feared, my negative review of the John Russo-massacred “30th Anniversary Edition” of Night of the Living Expressionless has been lumped unwittingly into this product’s review, so I’ m writing this one to justify.
This DVD edition is the best edition I’ve seen of the film yet. Anchor Bay may have raised the ires of legions of Living Insensible fans by releasing the sacrilegious 30th Anniversary Edition, but Elite Entertainment did moral by this current edition.
George A. Romero’s personal appreciation appears in the assist of this DVD — this immediately restores our faith. And the contents don’t disappoint — the narrate and sound are great, and though this doesn’t exactly occupy the richest batch of bonus materials (sets like the honorable 3-disc edition of Dario Argento’s Suspiria and the original double-disc Re-Animator both feature loads of extras), it is a nice solid collection. You catch a Duane Jones interview (sadly with only audio and no image, but detached sizable) ; an on-camera chat between Judith Ridley (Judy) and Marilyn Eastman (Helen) ; the hilarious student-film spoof “Night of the Living Bread” by Kevin S. O’Brien (which also appeared in the double-cassette VHS edition) ; two commentary tracks with Romero, Russo, Russ Streiner, Eastman, Karl Hardman and others. One very illuminating section of this DVD for non-film-scholars is visually tiresome but informative — several histories outlining the beginning of Romero’s Latent Image company, on Hardman and Eastman’s company, and how the two were married to effect Night of the Living Wearisome.

THIS is the suitable edition of Night of the Living Dull, the one to secure for both fans and non-fans alike. It includes all the essential people (watch that Russo, Streiner and Bill Hinzman were included in this release, despite their criminal participation in the 30th Anniversary Edition), and it presents the film the plan it wants to be seen.
Now I’m waiting for a deluxe release of Dawn of the Uninteresting and Day of the Unimaginative…

This review refers to the 20th Century Fox DVD edition of “Hope Floats”…..
Forest Whitaker gives us a nice taste of his behind the camera talents with his direction of this touching and romantic feel good film. He has assembled a terrific cast including the charming Sandra Bullock,the irresistable Harry Connick Jr.,and the always wonderful Gena Rowlands. Add to that a story that will touch you with it’s character’s strength, humor and loving bonds of family by Steven Rogers, a soundtrack you’ll want to hear over and over and terrific photogrpahy and you’ve got yourself a great recipe for a delightful movie break.
Birdie Pruitt(Bullock)was the sweetheart of her hometown, Smithville, Texas. She had it all..beauty queen, cheerleader,married to her high school sweetheart,a daughter who is the apple of her eye, and living the good life now in Chicago. But Birdie’s perfect life is about to unravel. After appearing on one of those afternoon talk shows for what she thinks will be a make-over, she is hit with the awful truth that her best friend and husband are having an affair.
Devasted, humiliated on national T.V., and feeling all is lost, she packs up herself and her daughter and beats a retreat back to Smithville. The road back to self-esteem is a long one for Birdie, as she shuts herself off from life and love and must deal with readjusting to a new life.
Sandra Bullock will warm your heart as she learns to open hers again. Harry Connick Jr. will keep you smiling, as the childhood friend who has always loved her, and tries to breakdown Birdie’s walls. And Gena Rowlands is perfect as the mother who won’t let her child give up. Bernice, Birdie’s young daughter is played brillantly by the young Mae Whitman and will evoke a lump in your throat as the child of divorce. Lots of great music including songs by Sheryl Crow, Bryan Adams and a beautiful rendition of “Smile” by Charles Chaplin, added to a moving score by Dave Grusin,are all just the right touches to this heartwarming story.
The DVD is an excellent presentation. The picture in widescreen(1.85:1)is very good with nice colors.The Sound in Dolby Dig 5.1 surrounds the room nicely.It may be viewed in French(stereo) and has subtitles in English and Spanish for those needing them. There are no other special features though.
If you’re in need of a little pick-me-up, this is the film to do it. A feel good movie that’s romantic, poignant and humorous, will leave you appreciating all that you already have, and with a smile as well.

What an excellent movie about how difficult it is to go home. Birdie Pruitt was what every girl dreams of being in high school – the cheerleader, beauty queen, and married to her sweetheart. When her husband leaves her for none other than her best friend, Birdie comes home to start her life again. For some, it is nice to have her home, but for others, they love throwing her failures in her face.

This has to be one of my very favorite movies and the soundtrack is THE BEST COUNTRY music I have ever heard, and I don’t even listen to Country Music LOL in fact I liked the music (and the movie) so much I have purchased both for friends at least twice!!! On to my review…..
Gena Rowlands is Fantastic as the Momma, Harry Connick Jr. is simply charming as the “wanna be” Beau, the actor that played “Travis” was adorable and heartwarming, Bernice (the daughter of Sandra Bullock in the movie) was casted very well she was perfect as a stubborn, hurt and confused little girl trying to deal with the divorce of her Beloved Daddy and her (now seen as the enemy) Momma. Of course I can not leave out Sandra Bullock I was impressed with her ability to portray the hurt and the recovery of a women who has sunk to depression after her husband has found another, a mother that is struggling to keep it together for her child and a daughter that comes home to a town and a Mother that remembers her in a certain light.
Forrest Whitaker did a tremendous job In my Honest Opinion with selecting this cast, creating scenes that make you feel all of what the characters are going through. From the Gena Rowlands character all the way to the children. I can not recommend this movie enough for anyone. Caution…. It’s not light, there are some funny moments and there are some very sad moments. It deals with death, infidelity and parents neglecting their children.
I watched this with my 12 year old, she loved it!!! The soundtrack maybe hard to find but do yourself a favor FIND IT!! it is definately worth it. I had to finally find mine on auction sites and it can come pretty pricy brand new/sealed but still if I ever heard something worth the ticket price the soundtrack for this movie is one of them.
Also if you like this type of movie (with pretty much the same subject matter) check out “Something to Talk About” which stars Gena Rowland as the Momma as well.

One of the better Ninja Films in recent times
This review will be broken down into two sections: 1) The quality of the movie itself, and 2) The BD Disc quality.
First up, the film itself:
Plot (WARNING, MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!)
The time is present day, and somewhere in a rural region of Japan, a dojo carries on the tradition of the Koga Ninja by training students in the ninja arts. The head of the school, called the Soke, is nearing retirement age and must choose his successor. His top two students are fierce rivals and both are leading candidates to inherit the title of Soke. However, before the Soke can appoint his successor, one of the top two students disgraces himself in a training duel against his rival and is banished from the school. Predictably, the banished student becomes a freelance assassin, and we see him employ his ninja skills to deadly effect in a very cool assassination sequence.
We soon learn that the Soke is the keeper of some ancient Koga weapons which, legend has it, grants the wielder extraordinary abilities. The banished ninja comes calling to claim the weapons, but only after they’ve been shipped elsewhere for safekeeping. A vicious battle ensues between the bansihed ninja and the Soke, and at the conclusion of this battle, the chase is on for the Koga weapons, with the film culminating in a showdown between, you guessed it, the two rival ninja students. In this climactic battle, only one survives.
As an added bonus, the beautiful daughter of the Soke is thrown into the mix, but sadly, she serves as little more than window dressing. While she demonstrates some ninja skills, she is mostly helpless in a fight and is relegated to the role of damsel in distress more often than not, despite having trained all her life in the ninja arts. Though in her defense, she’s fairly useful with a bow and arrow, and she’s nice to look at.
The plot is better than most straight to video flicks, and in this case, serves as the thin thread tying the action scenes together, which are themselves well choreographed and well filmed.
The Action:
The action scenes feature the generous use of ninja weapons, including some impressive sword battles, as well as some decent hand to hand fight scenes. Aside from three fairly intense one-on-one fight scenes (all featuring liberal use of the katana), most of the battles feature one of the top ninjas in the film dispatching a multitude of lesser skilled opponents. The star of the film, Scott Adkins (caucasian actor and good guy ninja), demonstrates impressive martial arts and acrobatic ability, and it appears that he performed most of his own stunts. Keep your eyes open for a scene where he uses his acrobatic ability to evade an oncoming car. The ninja villain (asian actor and bad guy ninja, read into that what you will) also seemed to be well versed in martial arts and the use of ninja weapons, and I dare say that the fight scenes in this movie were more impressive than those in “Ninja Assassin” due in equal part to good choreography (far better than a Van Damme or Seagal flick, though don’t expect anything as energetic or creative as what you’d see from Hong Kong legends like Yuen Woo Ping, Corey Yuen, Jet Li or Jackie Chan), the actors in this film being experienced martial artists, and an editing style that lingers just long enough on the action (as opposed to the hyper-quick cut aways used in Ninja Assassins, which is the norm for a film featuring actors who aren’t very adept at performing the action featured in the film) so you can appreciate the skill of the actors pulling off the moves.
The Acting:
Nothing to write home about. The actors look and play their parts well enough as far as action films like this go, but none of them deliver performances that will leave a long lasting impression on you. That’s a good thing though, because the acting isn’t horrible either. It’s just good enough to move the story along, as threadbare and full of plotholes as it is.
The special effects:
There is liberal use of blood splattering, sometimes into the camera, when a katana is used to lethal effect. The blood didn’t look overly cartoony to me, but your tolerance/appreciation of these effects will vary depending on how much of a gorehound you are.
The pyrotechnics are good. Swords clashing generate sparks at the appropriate times, and I recall two separate vehicle explosions also being impressively done.
As for the BLU-RAY itself:
Picture quality on my 1080P Phillips is excellent, though not quite reference material. The image is generally sharp, colors are well delineated with little crush evident in day or night scenes, and there is very little to no film grain, leading me to believe the film was shot digitally, with some grain retained for a film-like appearance.
I can’t provide a detailed review of the audio, as I utilize only the speakers on my tv itself, but from what I heard, I can say the audio came across clearly, with dialogue being easy to pick up and louder foley effects, such as swords clashing, gun fire, and explosions, coming in crisply as well.
There is nothing in the way of special features, unless you count previews of other movies.
All in all, if you’re not too critical when it comes to martial arts themed movies, and you have an interest in seeing ninjas fighting ninjas and killing people in bloody fashion without an overuse of rapid cut editing, you may be pleasantly surprised. I recommend “Ninja” to viewers who are nostalgic for films like American Ninja (the first and best of the series) and Sho Kosugi films like Revenge of the Ninja.
Is Ninja worth a blind buy though? I’d say for the $15 price tag, it is if you’re a fan of violent and bloody ninja films. If you’re just a casual fan, a rental is the safest bet.
Either way, whether you rent or buy, there are far worse films in this genre out there, so happy viewing!
Simple and good
This movie is very good despite the poor reviews. I thought the acting was very believable as well as the story. The story was simple and seriously done, which to me was refreshing. I am so tired of martial arts movies with elaborate plots that end up leaving you more confused than when the movie started. To me martial arts movies tend to get too bogged down with heavy plot and cheapen the action. This was not the case with this film. Instead the director seem focus on the action and choreography and keep the story concise enough the keep the audience engaged. I thought this was the best movie about the Ninja I have ever seen, however, the new Ninja Assassin movie has not come out yet on Blu-ray. At least when it does I will have something to compare it to.
You already know the story–But the action is spectacular
I am appalled by the negative reviews of this movie. Compared to Ninja Assassin, a big budget, over hyped movie, and over rated in amazon stars, this one, is better in many ways.
Ok so the story may be very typical. I used to play action figues as a child and would conjure up the same story, rival pupils, jealosy, and the love of his beautiful daughter….. anyways, this move on blu ray is sleek, fast paced (boy was ninja assassin sloooowww) , and down right badass. No excessive (unrealistic) blood like ninja assassin–although it was sweet, but they show you what it would really look like when someone gets chopped up by kitana. Oh and let me say the arsenal used is so sick!!
This movie had be out of my seat at least 4 times in excitement, all the while i am saying to myself how under the radar this movie was and how overly blown away i was by its production value. Sure there are no superstars, but the acting is far from terrible. Besides, its all about the action here.
I can confidently say this is the best action movie of 2010 so far and maybe even 2009 and beyond… definately worth $17 for the blu ray.

After a long (13 years) absence since her first motion record (1988′s Elvira, Mistress of the Dusky) the wise cracking dread hostess is befriend. Now it’s the mid 19th Century, the setting Transylvania, the star none other than Elvira. While en route to Paris, to star in “Yes, I Can Can,” Elvira and her robust French maid Zou Zou gain themselves in creepy mysterious castle Helsebus.

Can Elvira survive this creepy castle and its inhabitants for two rotund days and nights? Will she rush and create it to Paris? Or will she suffer the same fate of Elura Helsebus?

This movie pays fiendishly fun homage to the customary Corman/Poe, Vincent Impress flicks of the 1950′s. Complete with dramatic sets, secret passages, curses, wall entombment and even a pit complete with stout swinging (and actually perilous unprejudiced ask Elvira) pendulum.
While Elvira fans will catch this gothic romp a hilarious hay trot, non Elvira fans are obvious to earn something to devour. Besides Elvira’s gravity defying pair this movie actually proves to contain up against today’s market of CGI laden movies, with Hollywood large names and multi million dollar budgets.

All said and done, Elvira’s Timorous Hills are definitely worth surveying. Mr. Effect would be proud.
When I first rented this over the weekend, I opinion it was abominable. I expected something more like Elvira’s Mistress of the Murky movie, which is fantastic. However, as I started looking at the special features of this film, I realized what the film was trying to effect and the budget that they worked with and it was actually a very qualified film when looked at this intention.

Haunted Hills is a parody of ragged Vincent Price/Roger Corman movies. If you are a fan of old-school dismay, this film will form so noteworthy more sense for you. Because I had not seen these movies when watching the film I was ready to trash it even though I generally care for Elvira!
My only qualm was the scenes with Elvira and the stable-hand, Adrian. They wanted to beget a joke about dubbed movies (and coincidentally the actor did not suppose a word of English) so he spoke all of his lines in his native Romanian tongue and while it was silly in the first scene they had together, I got frustrated with it by the extinguish of the movie. I kept hoping he would suddenly begin speaking in English though I was amused that they kept the bit going through the whole film (then I learned that there was a worthy reason for it!) .

I contemplate allotment of the contrast between this film and the last one is that the first film probably had a higher budget. Some of the actors were working on no budget/low budget as a favor to Cassandra and the director. Having financial attend can go a long method into the quality of a film.
That being said, this has got plenty of Elvrira and lots of boob jokes and boob shots. The performance by the actor playing Dr. Bradley Bradley was very generous and I also enjoyed the actress playing Lady Hellsebus. I also liked the costumes, though there were different period styles combined together.
So, if you are looking for a very contemporary horror-esque comedy you are not going to accept this movie. It’s very cliche because it really is trying to be very cliche. Once you understand that, the movie will be so distinguished more exquisite.

Inspired by the sage from Edgar Allan Poe, gore yarn Lucio Fulci’s “The Dark Cat” is a refreshing change from the sorts of Italian dread films I’m customary to seeing. It almost feels like a Hammer or Amicus production, or an attempt at one rather, and as a expansive fan of those types of awe films, I was very relieved to witness that. Fragment of the feeling surely comes from the English setting, and another from one of the main stars of the film, actor Patrick Magee. However, the account plays a fraction in this too, as this film is actually about the animated spot more than it is about the gore. In fact, I’d say “The Dusky Cat” is fairly serene in the gore department compared to other Italian fear films. The performances range from quite safe to adequate, and the music is blooming icy, so overall I can easily say this is among the better Italian anxiety films I’ve seen, but, as I’ve said, it’s more because it feels a bit like British terror. If you are into the more typical Italian alarm films, perhaps you will not like “The Dusky Cat” so powerful. If you are a fan of Hammer and Amicus, this is a profitable segway into Italian dismay. The DVD from Anchor Bay claims to be fully restored (though I guess that doesn’t mean a flawless characterize), and the film is presented in widescreen. Also included are the theatrical trailer and a bio on Lucio Fulci. I can honestly say I like “The Shaded Cat” and it is worth checking out, though there are detached going to be questions you wish it had answered. It IS Italian fear, after all. Serene, this is among their best in my notion.
The Dim Cat released in 1981 is one of Lucio Fulci’s lesser known efforts. The Sunless Cat was released in a time when the splatter era of Lucio Fulci was upon us. If its gore you are looking for you won’t come by very worthy here, while the Dusky Cat does have some violence it’s not very gory at all; the couple of gore scenes we acquire are very tame actually. I wouldn’t even call them gore scenes.
With The Dismal Cat Fulci focuses more on suspense; while we all have our beget thought I mediate a lot of people went into this movie expecting a gorefest. Lucio Fulci was a director who could develop his movies arrive out creepier than they should have, but it’s the gore is what really got fans talking. The Unlit Cat could have aged more of the red stuff; while the movie wasn’t poor it honest never had that creepy feel that some of Fulci’s other movies from this era did.

The cessation up of the eyes is a Lucio Fulci trademark; when mature legal that shot can be really effective and gain a scene very eerie. But here in The Shaded Cat, Fulci goes into stop up of the eyes overload. It seemed every other shot was a discontinuance up of the eyes. Honestly it can come by rather annoying after a while. The spy of the movie is well done for the most part; Sergio Salvati was the cinematographer and he worked with Fulci on some of his most current flicks of the 80s.
Lucio Fulci and Sergio Salvati are able to design a ample gape visually and are able to perform some scenes a runt creepier than maybe they should have been. The Unlit Cat really wasn’t a dreadful movie it’s your typical Lucio Fulci movie only without the gore. There were some decent moments of suspense and the movie is actually well made for the most fraction. At times The Gloomy Cat can shuffle and there are moments when it can be a bit dreary, but overall The Dusky Cat is delicious.
If you aren’t a fan of Lucio Fulci your best bet is probably to skip this, but if you are a fan or a some what fan of Fulci The Dim Cat is worth a gaze. Unbiased don’t interrogate any gore because you will be disappointed; while The Dark Cat lacks in some areas it is delicious for the most section. Not one of Lucio Fulci’s best, but not one his worst. The Dim Cat is a decent survey and has it’s moments.
The DVD from Blue Underground is the same sincere disc as the Anchor Bay version. So if you already hold the DVD there is no reason to consume another one.

SAW 3 wraps up tight…can you find the key in time?
Saw 3 does what most third installments don’t do; it comes back at us with a tight script, super laden with mystery and yet despite all the loose ends that tighten, does not lose its power. Coupled with this are supreme images of ghastly terror within the modernized medieval type torture devices that we never get enough of.
Saw 3 picks up lightly where the 2nd one left off, but does not dwell there long. In this film, we’re reintroduced to jigsaw yet again, but more of the focus is on his apprentice this time. Meantime, several characters, some strangers, some not, come into play. One of the “key” (no pun intended) members of this cast is Jeff (played by Angus MacFadyen). Jeff is apprehended by someone and soon finds himself in quite a predicament. The key (again, no pun intended) here is that unlike other victims of the vigilante/vengeance psychopath known as “jigsaw”, Jeff is not shackled, bound or trapped. His quest is to take place throughout the industrial maze of brick, steel and cement landscape that has become a staple of “Jigsaw” hangouts. Jeff has not been paying attention to the family that needs him, but only because of hatred that has filled him over the loss of a loved one. Now he must play jigsaw’s final game, to see if he can overcome his problems and in the process, simply survive the carnage.
Jigsaw’s apprentice (Amanda, played by Shawnee Smith) has quite a past of her own as we soon discover. Despite the power you would think she would yield, we quickly learn how fragile all the seams of life really are. Saw 3 again shows great imagination and unique direction in the horror genre with such devices as the shotgun collar, attached body chains, ribcage reversal vest, the ice shower, pig guts vat, and another called “the rack”. Jigsaw (played brilliantly by veteran actor Tobin Bell) has more tricks up the sleeve than you can shake a blade at. The writing of Saw 3 is superb as it intertwines multiple characters on a destiny soaked with death. The key again, is also its ability to not make to much of a puzzle of it as much as intertwine past events of the first two movies to make it come together with one final showdown. What will become of Jeff? What happens at Jigsaw’s bed when the minute is up? Will the apprentice fulfill her mission or die trying?
Gore Factor of this movie is a 9 of 10. At times Saw 3 is able to freak you out with its nailed hands, ripped skin and breaking bones. The humanity and irony that surrounds some of its more special parts is often drowned out with glimpses of complete carnage so gory that you just better hope you saved Dinner for later.
Squeamish Gore-fest with a disturbing ending
I’m not even going to bother going over a synopsis of the plot. All you horror fans need to know is that this movie surpasses the first film, but in my opinion, it doesn’t stand up to the second film in terms of suspense. Saw 3 is the goriest, most disturbing of the films. It seems like 2006 was the year of gore! First came Hostel, with it’s torture and blood, then came The Hills Have Eyes, with it’s rape, animal killings, parent killings and brutality, and now comes Saw 3…With it’s flesh tearing, bone breaking, head twisting, gore splattered shock-fest. I have NEVER, in all my years of watching horror, had to actually cover my own ears and close my eyes while watching more than one scene in a movie before this one. The opening scene had me squirming in my seat with my lids tightly shut (after 15 seconds into the scene I had to mute the tv because I was so grossed out by the noises) and the scene involving a victim trapped in a device that “TWISTS” every limb on his body until the skin tears and the bones break made me want to literally vomit. But, still, the movie was very suspensful and horrifying. It kept you watching and interested. If you can stomach extreme gore and terror then you might enjoy this film. I have to admit that I REALLY hated the ending though. I can’t even explain how upset it made me, but overall, the movie was very scary and disturbing. Better than the first, not as good as the second…give it a try…but do it on an empty stomach!!
A touching and disturbing film
How can a film be the least violent yet the most violent in a series at the same time? This movie once again from the start, takes us into the mind of Jigsaw as he lays on his death bed. His comrad Amanda is still there yet not as sane or calm as before) However, in his newest game there are not as many players, it really takes you back to the atmosphere of the first one. We first see Lynn, a doctor who has lost contact with her children and her husband, disconnected and lost from her own world. She is choosen to keep Jigsaw alive until his final game has finished (if not the results will be deadly). Then we have Jeff, a man who has lost his son, as he was killed by a drunk driver and seeks vengeance against all involved. That is his prison, that is his torment. As Jeff is put to the test, we see he really isn’t in any physical pain, in fact it is much worse pain he must confront. All, the people involved, witness, judge, drunk driver are hidden in rooms and if jeff wishes to survive, he must do the most painful thing of all. Help them, keep them alive and worst of all, forgive them. This movie also features many flashback scenes from 1 and 2 and also, what happens in between these films. The saddest has to be with Adam (inbetween 1 and 2) and the one with Eric Matthews is great as well. This also features the most gruesome traps ever seen in the Saw franchise. This movie, shows growth in the series, not only does it carry the important message and classic gore we want from Saw but it also was a very emotional movie this time around. 5/5 Not as good as the first but better than the second.
