Gerson Therapy, or Chemotherapy: Guess which one has less than 3% success?star50 tpng The Beautiful Truth Discount.
It has been said that more people live off cancer than die from it. The Beautiful Truth is a movie that can put a stop to this travesty. Here is a very practical guide to the intensive nutritional treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases that many would consider to have been impossible to obtain. But thanks to the work of Max Gerson, M.D., and his daughter, Charlotte Gerson, this knowledge is readily available.

Max Gerson cured cancer. He did so with a strict fat-free, salt-free, low-protein, essentially vegetarian dietary regimen, based on great quantities of fresh vegetable juice, supplements, and systemic detoxification. Ms. Gerson explains:

“Dr. Gerson found that the underlying problems of all cancer patients are toxicity and deficiency. He had to overcome both these difficulties. He found that one of the important features of his therapy had to be the hourly administration of fresh vegetable juices. These supply ample nutrients, as well as fluids to help flush out the kidneys. When the high levels of nutrients re-enter tissues, toxins accumulated over many years are forced into the blood stream. The toxins are then filtered out by the liver. The liver is easily overburdened by the continuous release of toxins and is unable to release the load. Dr. Gerson found that he could provide help to the liver by the caffeine in coffee, absorbed from the colon via the hemorrhoidal vein, which carries the caffeine to the portal system and then to the liver. The caffeine stimulates the liver/bile ducts to open, releasing the poisons into the intestinal tract for excretion.”

Some of the blunt, uncompromising statements this movie makes are certain to get up the medical profession’s collective nose. Too bad for them, for Dr. Gerson was right. And as for Charlotte, his daughter, her entire life has been immersed in healing people, first learning while assisting her father, and later teaching his method to the world.

I personally have seen what the Gerson program can do for a terminally ill cancer patient. I have been called upon to help in a couple of high-profile but last minute cases. One patient was a well-known sports figure. He was given some months to live and was not happy about it, as he was still in his 50s. He asked what his best shot would be for inoperable, untreatable metastasized cancer. I told him: the Gerson therapy. He did it, not in its entirety, but with enthusiasm. And, he lived considerably longer that he was expected to. But what really impressed me was the dramatic improvement in his energy level. From fatigue and weakness, he went instantly to a vibrant life, commencing from the very week he started the program. He maintained a more-than-full schedule for so long that even people who knew he was sick forgot that he was sick.

Years later, people that never knew of my involvement in the matter would bring up his name, invariably recalling how active he was and how good he looked until, almost as a surprise, he died.

I saw a similar level of success with a prominent New York businessman, the owner of a chain of stores and afflicted with untreatable liver cancer. He began to do much, but by no means all, of the Gerson program, and was subsequently able to extensively travel the world with his family. He lived years longer than expected, with a high quality of life confirmed by all who saw him.

Looking only at these two patients, wanton critics of Gerson’s method might think that, without complete and unequivocal cure, there is little to crow about. Such a view is unproductive, for neither of these patients followed the Gerson program completely. It is a tough sell, even to a person with a terminal diagnosis.

Why is this?

Ignorance and arrogance make a bad combination, and “modern” medicine has been guilty of both for decades. Political physicians did not heed Dr. Gerson. In fact, they publicly condemned him. The news media, and some so-called “consumer” websites, have been their willing accomplices. The misinformation they spew to this day is fraught with fabricated frights of natural therapies, while in the same breath they spew forth the wonders of pharmaceutical drugs. When is the last time you saw a favorable mention of the Gerson program in the newspaper or on TV? Since pharmacological doctors have no sure-fire cure for cancer (an understatement if there ever was one), they might at least back a winning horse. According to peer-reviewed research, conventional chemotherapy contributes 2.3% to five year survival in Australia and a mere 2.1% in the US. (Morgan, Ward and Barton. Clinical Oncology, 2004. 16: 549-560) The Gerson approach has been shown, for over six decades, to significantly improve both quality of life and length of life in the sickest, the most hopeless, of cancer patients. Many people have been completely cured on the Gerson therapy. Not all, but many. Far, far more than with chemo.

Some years ago I watched a video tape of a Gerson patients’ “reunion.” On stage were people from all walks of life, and most were advanced in age. One after the other they spoke of the cancer they were diagnosed with three, ten, or twenty years ago. All were recovered. Dr. Gerson was the reason. You cannot watch such an event and fail to be moved.

Charlotte Gerson is 87 now (2009) and fit as a fiddle. I’ve met her many times. She glows with energy and vivaciousness and life. But what is much more important, so do the vast majority of Gerson patients. I urge you to watch this movie.

Between 1905 and 1971, the Australian government had a ghastly policy. They forcibly removed all half-caste Aboriginal children to special training schools. The grown daughter of one of these children wrote a book about her mother’s experiences. This film is an adaptation of that book.

The record takes situation in 1931, when Molly, then 14, her sister Daily, then 8, and her cousin Gracie, then 10, are literally torn from the arms of their mothers, build in a cage, and taken 1,200 miles away to a school which is actually a sort of prison. Here, they are forbidden to stutter their possess language, they have to support a Christian church, and are taught the ways of the white Australian culture around them. Led by Molly, the girls rush away. And most of the film is the odyssey of their plug abet home, following the rabbit-proof fence that bisects Australia, constructed to preserve rabbits out of the pastureland.

The villain is clearly the white director of the school. It is fabulous, but he actually believes in the racial theories that were prevalent at the time. He believes he is helping them and plays his role well, coming across as dead and misguided rather than scandalous. The Aboriginal girls are all unknowns, and terrific actresses, as are the women who play Molly and Daisy’s mother and grandmother. The courage and determination of the girls during their three-month go, the people they meet along the method, and their efforts to dodge the trackers who have been sent to retrieve them by the school, is truly provocative. This is all dwelling against the backdrop of the Australian outback; the cinematography certainly captures its beauty.

The film is 94 minutes long and moves rapid. I immediately identified with the girls and felt their apprehension as well as their bravery as they made their plan across the Australian continent. In a postscript to the sage, we learn more about their lives. It did not turn out to be glorious. But two of the girls have survived into their nineties, and we meet them briefly. They are strong women with weathered faces, one of them walking with a cane, but clearly at home in their Outback surroundings.

The film is a lesson in inspiration and courage as well as a geography and history lesson about Australia. I loved it and highly recommend it.

Based on (allotment of) a accurate anecdote, “Rabbit-Proof Fence” details the long roam that three young aboriginal girls embark on after being forcefully taken from their family in order to learn how to “fit into” a white society.

The memoir is inviting, and the execution from director Phillip Noyce is dazzling. This is a perfect film for history teachers to demonstrate their students. The performances are very natural and winning. Peter Gabriel’s regain is kindly – with the music playing over the closing credits being some of his best work ever (and appearing in a slightly different invent as “Sky Blue” on his 2002 album, _UP_) .

If you have seen this movie and enjoyed it, the DVD is a keeper. The audio commentary from Noyce is superbly done. In addition to giving the viewer background as to how and why he did the movie, he also offers up some tantalizing tidbits about the incompatibility between working on mainstream films (“Distinct & Demonstrate Wretchedness,” “Sliver,” etc.) and smaller films like “Rabbit-Proof Fence” and “The Smooth American.” A qualified documentary is included as well.

NOTE: Two years after I wrote this review, I am glad that a DVD version is finally available. Hopefully, this film will now receive the recognition and appreciation it clearly deserves. I have nothing to revise in the review which follows.

I saw this film when it was first released in 1960 and saw it again recently, charmed as before by the sage line and the worthy acting under Fred Zinnemann’s shiny direction. Here’s the situation: Ida (Deborah Kerr) and Paddy (Robert Mitchum) Carmody and son Sean (Michael Anderson, Jr.) are sheep drovers in Australia in the 1920s, proceeding from one job to the next. Ida and son yearn to resolve down permanently somewhere (anywhere, really) whereas Paddy prefers itinerant roaming. Along the procedure, they encounter Rupert Venneker (Peter Ustinov), a used sea captain with aristocratic sensibilities. Most of the film focuses on their tenure on the Halstead ranch during which they become friends with Mrs. Firth (Glynis Johns), an innkeeper to whom Venneker is coyly attracted. During the course of the film, not mighty happens, really. Its grand charm is generated by the developing relationships between and among the lead characters.

Others have praised this film for apt reasons of their contain. Here are mine. First, there is huge and authentic human interest in the differences between Ida’s and Paddy’s contradictory definitions of “home.” For lack of better terms, between settling down and arresting on. Also, in collaboration with Zinnemann, Jack Hildyard enriches the development of the yarn with cinematography which is compellingly, indeed exquisitely appropriate to that time and set. Finally, all of the lead actors seem perfectly matched with the roles they play…especially Mitchum.

Briefly, I now portion some thoughts about him, first because he invests Paddy with a wholesome appeal which was for me unexpected, given the Mitchum persona as in Night of the Hunter (1955) and Home from the Hill (also 1960) and then, years later, in his portrayals of Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe in Farewell, My Handsome (1975) and The Titanic Sleep (1978) . His understated, highly-disciplined portrayal of Paddy is comparable with Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of Warren Schmidt. Although Kerr and Johns received an Academy Award nomination, Mitchum did not. I have always plan he was under-appreciated as an actor.

Set in the 1920s and about a family of Irish itinerant sheepherders, this film has panoramic views of Australia (cinematography by Jack Hildyard), a suited script, and a diverse and absorbing cast; the sheep also are terrific, and there are many glimpses of kangaroos, koalas and more, all spot to an upbeat get by Dimitri Tiomkin. The film also shows the backbreaking labor of shearing the sheep, and the hard life and hard drinking of the people who do it.
It has its fraction of drama, poignancy, and humor, the latter usually thanks to Peter Ustinov, who puts in another memorable performance as a British wanderer who is always able to extricate himself from romantic entanglements.
Deborah Kerr shines as Ida, the tough but sensitive wife who stands by her man through thick and thin (mostly thin) . Robert Mitchum is beneficial as her irresponsible husband, as is Michael Anderson Jr. as their son, and Glynis Johns adds her irrepressible charm as a pub owner.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Sundowners! Click Here

Though not quite on the level of director Fred Zinnemann’s best work (like “High Noon”, “A Man for all Seasons”, and “Day of the Jackal”), it serene has his masterful touch, and is a lovely film, well worth viewing.
It was nominated for Best Actress, Represent, Director, Adapted Screenplay, and Supporting Actress (Johns), losing out to Elizabeth Taylor in the first category, and “The Apartment” and “Elmer Gantry” in the rest.
“The Sundowners” is solid entertainment from one of the gigantic directors of the 20th century, and total running time is 133 minutes.

One of the mammoth things about movies is that every once in awhile the unexpected happens, something comes along that you know immediately is honest a bit different and special somehow. Usually it’s the film itself, but on occasion– and this is one of them– a character will emerge who is not unprejudiced a character in a movie, but IS the movie. Here, it’s the title character of “Crocodile Dundee,” directed by Peter Faiman, and starring Paul Hogan as the inimitable Mick Dundee, a rather current individual hailing from the tiny hamlet of Walkabout Creek, Australia. Mick hit the ample hide in 1986, and from the first moment he appeared, fair up through the kill of the second sequel, it’s been a “G’day” for audiences around the world.

In Australia on assignment for her Novel York newspaper, journalist Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) runs across a account she unprejudiced has to pursue. It’s about a legendary “local” from one of the exiguous towns on the cusp of the bush, a crocodile hunter who, the chronicle goes, had his leg bitten off by a croc, then managed to survive by crawling, alone, for days on waste across the outback. So it’s off to the town of Walkabout Creek in search of this larger-than-life character, who it turns out is quite a “character” to say the least. He is, in fact, one of a kind.

After a memorable meeting in the town’s only pub (one of about four buildings in the whole dwelling), Michael J. “Mick” Dundee agrees to win her on a tour retracing his steps and reconstructing the celebrated event where it actually took state. He promises a hard stride through some rugged terrain– no location, in fact, for a “Sheila”– but, like any agreeable reporter, she’s ready for anything; or so she thinks. And it’s the beginning of an adventure she, as well as the audience, will never forget.

Hogan concocted the anecdote and created the character, then wrote the screenplay along with John Cornell and Ken Shadie, after which he turned it over to director Faiman, who did a pleasant, if not exceptional, job of translating Hogan’s vision to the veil. Faiman, however, is destined to be the forgotten man with regards to this project, inasmuch as he was not only necessarily overshadowed by writer/star Hogan, but he presented the film in a fairly straightforward manner, without anything particularly great that “he” did that would set aside his “signature” on it. Add to that the fact that this was the first of only two films Faiman ever directed (his second was the lackluster “Dutch” in 1991) ; simply not enough to reference him, nothing added to his resume afterwards to execute you choose gaze and say, “Oh, yes, he directed `Dundee,’ too.” Calm, filmmaking is inherently a collaborative medium, and as they say, a film does not “yell” itself; so credit must be given where it is due, and considering how agreeable this film is, and how well it did at the box office, it points up that whatever Faiman did, he did accurate. And he deserves to be acknowledged for it.

It’s no secret, of course, what really makes this film work. Aside from the attractive account with it’s romantic notions of adventure, from beginning to ruin it has the four “Great Cs” going for it: Character, Charisma, Chemistry and Charm. Let’s face it, Paul Hogan is “The Man” as Mick Dundee; he’s the guy other guys love and want to be (whether or not they’ll admit to it), and he has the kind of natural favorable looks, charisma and charm that is irresistible to the ladies (whether or not they’ll admit to it) . And the chemistry between Hogan and Kozlowski is irrefutable; it’s the kind that makes you want to attach another slight on the barbie. Besides all of which there is an innate honesty about Hogan’s Mick that shines through like a 1st order Fresnel light in a London fog. He’s laid-back and grounded, with a refreshingly logical outlook on life– this guy’s never going to need a pill for hypertension– and what adds even more to his appeal is that there’s a touch of larceny in his make-up, hiding impartial beneath that twinkle in his observe and his clear integrity. You also know instinctively that this is the guy you want in your corner when the chips are down. All of this and more is what Paul Hogan captures in his performance; this is the Mick “Crocodile” Dundee he brings to the hide.

In her motion record debut, the elegant Linda Kozlowski brings some sizzle to the shroud and proves to be the perfect counterpoint to co-star Hogan. Something of an “Ibsenesque” role model, she demonstrates that a woman can be strong and ultra feminine, respectable yet vulnerable, and all at the same time. It makes her portrayal of Sue Charlton convincing, well rounded and real; grand more than unprejudiced a cardboard cutout kind of a character that could have been old as nothing more than a vehicle to depart the anecdote along. Instead, though this is without interrogate Mick Dundee’s yarn, she makes it her fable, too, and it gives the film an added perspective and considerably more depth than what is usually found in light comedy, which is essentially what this film is. And there’s a discover in her gawk and something in the draw she smiles at Mick that has an absolute ring of truth to it. You could say, in fact, that Hogan and Kozlowski are the Bogie and Bacall of the outback.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Crocodile Dundee! Click Here

Another invaluable asset to the film is the performance of the likable John Meillon as Mick’s friend, Walter Reilly. The piece is a factual character actor’s character, and Meillon does it beautifully. The supporting cast includes Notice Blum (Richard), Michael Lombard (Sam), Steve Rackman (Donk) and Reginald VelJohnson (Gus) . A memorable film filled with unforgettable characters, “Crocodile Dundee” will seize you to the top o’the world… “down under.”

‘Crocodile Dundee’ is a highly sharp comedy romance released in ’86 that implanted such palatable Aussie terms as; “G’day” and “out for a walkabout” into Amercian mainstream consciousness.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Crocodile Dundee! Click Here

Paul Hogan is absolutely perfect as the man from down under, Michael J. ‘Crocodile’ Dundee who is pursued by an American reporter (Linda Kozlowski) in search of a first-rate newspaper record about the elusive crocodile hunter roaming the Australian Outback. When their brief but intense encounter blossoms into romance she invites Mic to return to Fresh York with her and scrutinize the sights. Can a naive Aussie modern from the bush cope with the perils that accompany life in the Vast Apple? You Bet!!

Great family fun with noble performances by Hogan and Kozlowski as well as John Meillon as Mic’s Outback partner, Walter and a brief but memorable cameo by David Gulpilil.

`Lord of the Flies’ has been made into a movie at least twice since the William Golding unique of the same name became a cult classic / must read volume for high school and college students in the unhurried 1950s. The first version, which follows the current very closely, was done in dismal and white by the celebrated director, Peter Brook in 1963. The second version was done in color by Harry Hook and released in 1990.

Like many remakes in the same language, one immediately wonders why bother, as the new Brook version is more than attractive enough to bid the message of the new.

To highlight the differences between the two versions, let me outline the narrative shared by the two versions.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Lord of the Flies: Essential Art House! Click Here

The scene is dwelling when an airplane carrying school children crashes in the South Pacific, of the glide of a remote tropical island. Approximately 30 of the children, ages 6 to 13 acquire it to shore and regain on the beach to work out how they are to survive and buy that since they are far removed from their unique destination and the island is itsy-bitsy and uninhabited, there is a qualified chance it will purchase a long time, if ever, for grown-ups to rep and rescue them. The first two principle characters are Ralph, one of the two or three oldest boys who we meet first, in the company of an intellectual, bespectacled, slightly overweight boy of the same age known as `Piggy’. The third main character is Jack, about as customary and as fit as Ralph. Three minor named characters are Simon, who is prone to fainting and `seeing things’ and Sam and Eric, a pair of twins.

An early vote sets up Ralph as the leader, with a few rules establishing a conch shell found by Ralph and Piggy in the first reel as the symbol of the just to swear to the gathering of boys. Jack immediately assumes the responsibility as leader of a `gang’ (later to become a `tribe’) of hunters who will also retract responsibility for maintaining a signal fire which Ralph succeeds in lighting by using Piggy’s eyeglass lens as a means of concentrating sunlight on a clump of tinder.

Jack’s gang gets eager too considerable in hunting and allows the signal fire to go out unbiased as an aircraft flies reach the island. Soon, a chronicle evolves about the presence of a monster on the island. This creates the pretext for Jack to split off from the group with his tribe and effect a camp at a more defensible site. As this larger group becomes more and more used, they raid Ralph’s camp and acquire Piggy’s specs since it is the only means they have for starting fires. To placate the monster, the head of a killed wild pig is crop from its carcass and stood on the top of a pole reach the suspected monster’s lair as an offering to the monster.

After a few days, Simon observes this pig’s head and its very enormous collection of flies feasting on the festering flesh and imagines he hears the pigs head tell to him, hence, the source of the title. Simon is then killed when the hunters mistake him in the night for the monster.

When Ralph and Piggy waddle to Jack’s camp to recover Piggy’s specs, Piggy is killed by another `accident’ when Jack’s tribe members pry a enormous boulder loose that falls on Piggy. Ralph and Jack fight, Ralph is driven off, and the whole tribe sets fire to the jungle to flush out Ralph and, presumably, waste him. Both stories raze as Ralph runs to the beach to obtain himself at the feet of a very professionally uniformed member of his country’s elite armed services.

Hook spices up the dialogue by making the boys distinguished more hip with lots of voice words and references to contemporary common shows such as Alf and Miss Piggy of the Muppets. Unfortunately, Hook loses the two most notable elements of the whole legend. In the beginning of the modern and, subtly, in the beginning of Brook’s film, we glance that the world is once more at war and the boys from several different schools are on a plane to Australia to net relative safety from the coming (nuclear? ) conflict. Hook shows nothing of this, giving us simply a group of boys from the same military academy on a shuffle to goodness knows where. This totally looses the whole allegorical sense of the tale where the conflict between the boys mirrors the war in the world at gigantic, especially the sense of the last scene where the world (island) is destroyed by the conflict (fire) .

The second major oversight in Hook’s rendition is that there is never enough attention given to the significance of the pig’s head, Simon’s vision, and the sense of `The Lord of the Flies’. A less valuable point is that the origin of the monster epic is different in the two movies. Brook’s film follows the book and has it be a misinterpretation of a billowing parachute from a fallen, tiresome pilot. Hook creates the account out of the spasms of the downed plane’s delirious pilot as he finds refuge in a cave and is rediscovered by Simon who believes he is a monster.

Both movies do a credible job of depicting the plunge of nominally civilized boys into savagery and yarn. The combat between Ralph and Jack reach the destroy is straight out of Frazier’s `The Golden Bough’ on the chronicle of killing the king. Unfortunately, Hook’s version seems as eviscerated as the pig carcass, as all the colossal allegorical of the fresh legend are totally lost. And, as minimal as they were, I even believe the boys’ performances in Brook’s version are better done, as their initial innocence in the face of this loss of civilization makes their transformation all the more spicy.

Brook’s version is highly recommended.

It was a pleasure to gaze the unique version of “Lord of the Flies” again. I’ll be alive to in seeing the DVD version as well, to examine what additional material comes in that format. Having been one of the boys in the movie, I also appreciated seeing the reviews posted by other Amazon customers! I wonder if any of the other cast members have checked out this space…

Buy,Download, Or Stream Lord of the Flies: Essential Art House! Click Here

I confess to liking the unique version far more than the remake, but that’s not surprising, I guess. I TRIED to support an launch mind when I saw the current version, but, alas, I failed. My recollections of running from the burning jungle, coughing, onto the beach at the raze makes a black-and-white rendition seem more steady to me.

i gave this a five star rating but maybe it was a four and a half or a four star.

i felt that this was a very true movie. i could spy mighty, if not all, of this having taken state. okay, for the ease of making a movie some things were simplified [like the ease of the illegal entry into a domicile. i at no point felt that this promoted nor current child molestation like one of the other reviewers. i will need to peep this once more to perform distinct that all of the lose ends were tied up. I’m very confident that there are no chase ups. there are a number of unexpected twists that made sense because of human nature’s willingness to leave primary details. so when a character doesn’t reveal others everything it’s to preserve up his, or her, public perception.

the others near aid, with sign, to notice what was buried. they net a body.

mark doesn’t like that one of his two friends called up the grave digger and state into motion a simple conception.

“hey, grave digger… if you don’t slay our tormentor we’ll turn you into the cops.”

from here we inspect that simple plans often don’t go apt and can gain unpleasant side effects. also, there seems to be a itsy-bitsy research that was venerable to near up with what creates the sick-os that that we ogle as sociopaths or harm to the young that creates psychopaths.

i felt that there was high quality in the acting, filming, direction, and script. grand of the scenery was gorgeous, filmed in queensland Australia.

as i mentioned earlier there were many unexpected points that created twists. these were not gimmicks but based on human nature. after viewing again I’m clear i’ll acquire the film seamless with no lose ends.

Acolytes is a 2008 Australian film with a premise both simple and unusual: Three teenage friends stumble across a burial set in the woods, identify a serial killer, and settle to blackmail him into committing a crime on their behalf. This is not a thought born out of restless boredom. The crime, it seems, is a design of extreme justice for an act of violence that occurred several years earlier.

Present day scenes feature the friends’ daily wanderings across a hideously slow suburban neighborhood. We never sight concerned adults–other than law enforcement officers–taking an interest in anything they do. Loving parents will secure this appalling, but just ones will admit that a lot of teens live this arrangement. Unsupervised and disconnected from parents who are busy working or unprejudiced not that fervent, the young people in this account execute meaning and relationships from scratch. What they near up with is sometimes touching and dark, but it is also risky and potentially self-destructive.

The tale deepens with a series of flashbacks. Every creepy revelation and each unique act of brutality builds naturally and inexorably upon the last, until the horrific ending seems both surprising and inevitable. Only one moment, behind in the film–when two of the teens race to benefit the third at their usual meeting place–seems unlikely. There is a missing bridge here, a scene of reconciliation between the two boys, which would elaborate the action.

Director Jon Hewitt has coaxed believable performances from his cast. And he’s framed them–both teens and adults–with a soulless backdrop that makes the word “community” seem ridiculous. Both the natural world and suburban limbo are revealed as places that maintain plain mysteries, down winding roads and leisurely closed doors.

Much can be said about Bewitched’s 4th season. I beget the series peaked here. They introduced a whole slew of novel sound effects, some of which remained until the raze of the series. Sam’s identical cousin, Serena, began making semi-regular appearances during this season. Dr. Bombay appears a few times also. His character was fully developed from the word GO. Also, this was the final season we eye Aunt Clara prior to Marion Lorne’s passing away. (They should have at least given an explanation about her absence in season 5) .

Some of the best episodes here include “Double Double Toil and Difficulty” where we first scrutinize Serena terrorizing Darrin while pretending to be Samantha. Also, “I Confess” has Sam showing Darrin, via dream, what would happen if they told the world Sam’s moral identity. Another classic is “Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds” has Endora losing her powers only to be a bigger fear to Darrin than ever before. This is also the only season to film a Thanksgiving episode where aunt Clara zaps the gang benefit to the first Thanksgiving…a holiday must-see. Oh, and let us not forget Samantha being crowned Queen of the Witches. They came up with this view, then didn’t know what to do with it, so they quietly seemed to topple it. It was mentioned halfway through the season, then not ever again acknowledged that it ever happened until the beginning of season 7.

Although we don’t perceive Tabitha too many times at the very inaugurate of the season, she pulls some very laughable tale lines with her powers as the season progresses including conjuring up Prince Charming out of a fairy memoir, turning a rank brat of a neighbor into a bulldog, and zapping up strange-looking spooks out of a halloween book. The second episode was devoted to Tabitha turning her dolls and stuffed animals into live beings, but if you see and listen closely, it is very definite that episode was filmed for season 3, but wasn’t aired until the beginning of season 4.

My only complaint about this season was that if someone were tuning into episodes like “Business Italian Style” or “Cheap, Cheap” and they never have seen the indicate before, they would advance to the conclusion that the Stephens’ were childless. That always bugged me, but that has always been a television affliction. We are always to seize kids are asleep, in their rooms, out attend, etc while the action is going on. Unprejudiced peep “Everybody Loves Raymond” or “I Admire Lucy” and you’ll know what I mean.

There were a couple of lousy episodes including “Majority of One” and the episode that introduced a nanny, but never materialized after that. But thankfully, with current DVD’s, you don’t even have to fastforward over them. Unprejudiced click which episode you want to perceive, and it appears. Samantha and Tabitha would have said that the mortals were catching up with them.

But every explain has episodes that are subpar, and quirks. But the beneficial character development, unique storylines and favorable acting makes Bewitched a exhibit for all-time. Many shows in the sixties were not terribly well acted, especially the police dramas. But many of the sitcoms like Bewitched, Jeannie, the Flying Nun, That Girl, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Net Shining, all had top rate actors and storylines. This is why they remain a staple in our culture to this day.

“Bewitched”, was one of those special programs that I had the indecent privilege to literally grow up with as a boy. Blessed with one of, if not THE best cast of players in comedy history, terrific writing, imaginative special effects, and most importantly of all heaps of charm, this exhibit was a total winner from episode one. Binding all of this magically together through an incredible 8 seasons was the ever sparkling Elizabeth Montgomery as the gorgeous suburban housewife witch Samantha. Quite rightly dubbed “The Grace Kelly of 1960′s television”, Montgomery was one of those rare television actresses that only the 1960′s decade seemed to be able to fabricate who totally won everyone’s heart. How she never won an Emmy Award for playing Samantha is one of the enormous mysteries of American Television History . Season Four of “Bewitched”, is by far my favourite of the whole series and saw the series really peak with the entire cast at their creative best. It was also sadly the last season before Dick York’s on-going health problems really began to interfer with the production of “Bewitched”, prior to his unfortunately having to leave the series come the raze of Season Five. Season Four contains a stout host of classic episodes that spotlighted the shows leading players in Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, and the legendary Agnes Moorehead (another performer who also strangely missed out on winning an Emmy Award for her hilarious playing of the Mother-In-Law from Hell, Endora ), while detached giving the unbelievable supporting players like Marion Lorne, David White, Mabel Albertson and Bernard Fox dependable opportunities to shine in various episodes.

Every “Bewitched”, buff has their favourite episodes from this season and I procure that season 4 has an abundance of really classic episodes to resolve from when compiling lists of favourites. Some of the outstanding ones in my opinion are;

“Long live the Queen”, a very lavish episode that finds Samantha enthroned as the unusual Queen of the Witches in a out of this world ceremony. Her modern honour however causes numerous problems on the homefront with Darrin.

“Double, Double….Toil and Anxiety”, where in her latest intention to gain rid of Darrin, Endora gets Serena to masquerade as Samantha for a day causing all kinds of hilarious misunderstandings and the usual bewilderment for Darrin as sweet Samantha suddenly transforms into the raunchy “Dismay of Morning Glory Circle”.

“Cheap, Cheap”, where Endora turns Darrin into a awful penny pinching miser which causes all sorts of complications at a dinner party for an equally “careful”, client.

“A Top-notch And Sane Halloween”, the best of the Halloween episodes in my understanding and a very laughable telling of how Tabitha brings to life a number of Halloween characters from one of her books causing mayhem for Darrin and Samantha. This episode taught me as a boy in Australia unbiased how this holiday was noted in America, proving that television of all kinds can “educate”.

“Allergic to Customary Macedonian Dodo Birds”, one of the immense classic episodes of the series and a tour de force for Agnes Moorehead when Endora loses her powers powerful to Darrin’s delight, however the delight turns to dismay when a “mortal” Endora proves even more impossible to cope with in the Stephens’ household.

“Humbug Not To Be Spoken Here”, a amazing Christmas episode based loosely on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, has Samantha showing the proper meaning of Christmas and togetherness one magical Christmas Eve to a scrooge-like client of McMann and Tate. Elizabeth Montgomery has in my belief`never been lovelier than in this episode.

“Once in a Vial”, another hilarious Agnes Moorehead performance when Endora by mistake drinks a worship potion intended by her for Samantha and then runs off with one of Darrin’s clients in a “savor potion induced romantic frenzy”, to gather married!

“Snob in the Grass”, Samantha has another encounter with Darrin’s ex-fiance the bitchy Sheila Summers, (Nancy Kovak in a scene stealing performance), at a dinner party for a prospective McMann and Tate client. The evening comes to a climax in an all out cat fight between the two women with Sheila once again coming off the worse thanks to some of Samantha’s well timed witchcraft.

“If They Never Met”, a wonderfully romantic and at times sombre tale where Endora takes Samantha help in time to examine what Darrin’s life would have been like had he and Samantha never met.

“Samantha’s Secret Saucer”, another of Aunt Clara’s classic goof ups when she accidently (of course!) zaps a spaceship with two aliens onboard lawful down into the Stephen’s backyard while spending the night babysitting Tabitha. This causes all kinds of danger for Samantha and Darrin with both the military and an ever suspicious Mrs Kravitz before Aunt Clara remembers how to send them aid into position. This sadly proved to be Marion Lorne’s last appearance on “Bewitched”, as the daffy but loveable Aunt Clara honest prior to the actresses death in early 1968.

“Ten Canoes” modern story-within-a-story structure allows a peep of one Indigenous Australian culture while it offers a timeless account with enough drama to satisfy both Western and Yolngu tastes. The film was conceived by writer/director Rolf de Heer as a project for and about the native people of Arnhem Land in Northern Australia, from whence his friend actor David Gulpilil, who narrates the film, hails. The film’s style and sage structure were inspired by the photographs of anthropologist Dr. Donald Thomson, who took over 4,000 pictures of the Yolngu people in the 1930s while their conventional traditions were calm widely practiced, including an iconic photo of ten canoeists on a goose egg hunt.

As the film opens on the fine blue and green of Arnhem Land, a Storyteller (David Gulpilil) introduces us to a fable of his people, of the young man Dayindi (Jamie Gulpilil) who covets the youngest wife of his older brother Minygululu (Peter Minygululu) . While Dayindi experiences his first goose egg gathering expedition with the men in Arafura Swamp, his brother tells him a sage of their conventional ancestors to guide him: Among the ancients, there was a young man, Yeeralparil, who also fancied the youngest of his warrior brother Ridjimiraril’s (Crusoe Kurddal) wives. One day, a Stranger (Michael Dawu) appeared in camp to trade objects of sorcery. He was sent on his arrangement with food and edifying wishes, but a cloud of inconvenience and ill will remained late.

“Ten Canoes” offers drama, humor, and a striking visual exploration of a ragged culture and the lands that shaped it for millennia. The goose egg hunt sequences are in black-and-white, placing them in “Thomson Time”, as they remove and dramatize the photographs that captured that annual ritual. It seems unique at first to behold a sun-drenched swamp in black-and-white, but the heavily highlighted foliage lends the scenes an appropriate mythical quality. Working with mostly non-professional actors who yell puny English, in keeping with their tribal laws, presented some hurdles which were surmounted in share due to the efforts of actor Peter Djigirr, whom Rolf de Heer credits as co-director. There is nothing powerful about the fable told in “Ten Canoes” but the telling itself is hypnotic and transcendent. In English and Ganalbingu with optional English subtitles.

The DVD (Palm 2007) : There are 5 bonus features. “The Batandu and the Bark Canoes” (51 min) is a documentary narrated by Rolf de Heer about making the film, from its inspiration, to casting, the obstacles of primitive kinship laws, working with the actors, etc. It’s an curious and well-produced sort of director’s journal. “Aerial Procedure of Arnhem Land” (3 min) is an heavenly aerial stare of the place that zooms in and out on its believe. “Thomson’s Photographs” (3 min) is a slideshow of some of Donald Thomson’s photos compared to the film, which attempts to recreate them. “An Interview with Director Rolf de Neer” (4 min) talks about the evolution of the conception for the film. “An Interview with Peter Djigirr” (4 min) discusses the meaning of the film to Yolngu culture.

As art house films go, this movie is very kindly, maybe even exceptional. On the other hand, if you like Hollywood type movies, than you might want to pass. However, even if you are not inclined to the type of movies that don’t gain the publicity or distribution and are stacked thirty deep at your local movie rental conglomerate four months later, you smooth might savor this movie. Remember the Australian classics The Last Wave – Criterion Collection, Walkabout – Criterion Collection? Well, this will probably someday be considered alongside those movies as mammoth movies from Australia. Coincidently, David Gulpili, who starred in the aforementioned movies, narrates, often times tongue in cheek, and as he says, that is another record. The storytelling is friendly, a anecdote within a narrative, an adventure for the ages and a suitable fable that doesn’t club you upside the head. The humor is substantial, it is comic stuff that transcends the cultural differences. The scenery is spectacular, especialy on your giant shroud with surround sound. You will feel as if you are walking with the aborigines. The mixture of mystical shamans beliefs and otherworldly scenery, shifting from dark and white to color is hallucinatory and adds an extra dimension to an already multi-layered on many levels movie. The ages primitive lust-for-your-brother’s wife is the vehicle for the narration as you join in the adventure two fold(two different time periods) in creating ten canoes from scratch(pulling the bark) as the men embark on a stagger that reveals the past in the reveal. One of the features to not be missed is the making of the movie extra that is included. The directors, Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr, buy you through the scenes and you peruse objective how difficult it was to score the aboriginal “actors” to act so naturally. It is fabulous because they reach across so natural in their roles, but it did require alot of coaching. The directors, did a generous job and the result was a suited movie. If you are in the mood for some National Geographicesque tribal scenes (some nudity), exotic landscapes and an adventure abet in time, then check out this Australian flick that is soon to be a classic.

Turn on your TV. Examine the same formulaic comedies day after day on the networks. Recognize your intelligence quotient initiate its downward spiral. Shocked? Ok, now turn on Scrubs. Every so often a reveal comes along that breaks the network formula, and brings a richness to a genre that is sorely lacking in originality. Scrubs is that expose, and has been for several years running.

Scrubs crooked me with the very first episode I ever saw. At first I was skeptical. Medical comedy, hmm Ok, there is going to be unpleasant sophmoric humor and haven’t we seen medical shows about a million times? Five minutes in, it hit me. This explain was actually brilliant; Shiny, quirky, and sometimes wacky humor coupled with right drama and tearful emotion and writing that continues to amaze week after week. At that moment, Scrubs inherited the void left by Seinfeld’s departure as TVs best comedy.

The quirky nature of the writing, especially JD’s fantasy sequences, improves in Season 2. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke are far better, and far more comfortable, in their respective roles as JD, Turk, and Elliot than in Season 1. John C. McGinley is bar none the best actor on TV today as Dr. Cox. He becomes a more understandable and likeable character as this season progresses. And of course, Neil Flynn and his fantastically offbeat humor as JD’s Janitor nemesis.

The season 1 finale left a lot of questions in the air. Would Carla and Turk determine their problems and accumulate happiness? Would JD and Elliot tumble in appreciate for accurate or are they destined for friendship? Most importantly, woud the father-son relationship between JD and Dr. Cox ever be the same? Season 2 resolves these questions fairly early, leaving the majority of the season devoted to pure laugh out loud moments and fantastic guest stars like Heather Locklear, Tom Cavanaugh, Rick Shroeder, Jay Mohr, and the attractive Amy Intellectual as Tasty Coma Wife. The reveal seems to be successfully fascinating away from the gimmicky set twists and each episode is a neatly comprehensive exhibit. With shorter dramatic arcs, the humor and acting are center stage and the cast and crew sparkle. This plot is a solid winner, with plenty of spirited extras, and is an absolute must have for any Scrubs or TV comedy fan.

Scrubs season two came out on DVD where I live yesterday (Australia) and I have to say that the quality of this box space actually managaes to surpass that of season one. Once again, the special features are though-provoking and informative without being too lengthy (perfect for my short attention span) . The best short doco is one which features many of the on-set jokes between cast and crew – you really come by the feeling that these people don’t impartial turn up and acquire a sitcom for the money.

While it’s disappointing that there are only 22 episodes in season two, as opposed to the 24 from the first season, what is lost in quality is made up for in quantity. Once again we leer the janitor (my absolute favourite character) do his best to invent JD’s life hell, while getting choked up when JD gives him a fresh mop (of all things!) . Music also features heavily in these episodes, with the return of ‘Ted’s Band’ seeing a fabulous rendition of the theme song from ‘Charles in Charge’. Check out the extras to discover these guys do their absorb special cloak of the Scrubs theme song.

Even the menus are tantalizing – containing the entire Scrubs theme song, which is seriously catchy (sings) …but I know, I’m no Superman… (all moral I’ll close now) . In the episodes themselves, the portray is very obvious and the sound is vast too, and trustworthy transfer from the source material. Considering the abominable pattern in which these shows screened in Australia, it’s nice to be able to glimpse them in order as intended. All in all, this is a amazing location at a big heed – where I’m from it’s about half the cost of (for example) Simpsons and Frasier box sets. And because Scrubs is unbiased one of those shows you can glimpse over and over again, it’s well worth every cent.
