A Scotland Yard inspector and an American photographer are drawn into a bizarre series of deaths in a slight English town that seem to be linked to a psychic medium and his hateful murky cat.

Inspired by the sage from Edgar Allan Poe, gore yarn Lucio Fulci’s “The Dark Cat” is a refreshing change from the sorts of Italian dread films I’m customary to seeing. It almost feels like a Hammer or Amicus production, or an attempt at one rather, and as a expansive fan of those types of awe films, I was very relieved to witness that. Fragment of the feeling surely comes from the English setting, and another from one of the main stars of the film, actor Patrick Magee. However, the account plays a fraction in this too, as this film is actually about the animated spot more than it is about the gore. In fact, I’d say “The Dusky Cat” is fairly serene in the gore department compared to other Italian fear films. The performances range from quite safe to adequate, and the music is blooming icy, so overall I can easily say this is among the better Italian anxiety films I’ve seen, but, as I’ve said, it’s more because it feels a bit like British terror. If you are into the more typical Italian alarm films, perhaps you will not like “The Dusky Cat” so powerful. If you are a fan of Hammer and Amicus, this is a profitable segway into Italian dismay. The DVD from Anchor Bay claims to be fully restored (though I guess that doesn’t mean a flawless characterize), and the film is presented in widescreen. Also included are the theatrical trailer and a bio on Lucio Fulci. I can honestly say I like “The Shaded Cat” and it is worth checking out, though there are detached going to be questions you wish it had answered. It IS Italian fear, after all. Serene, this is among their best in my notion.
The Dim Cat released in 1981 is one of Lucio Fulci’s lesser known efforts. The Sunless Cat was released in a time when the splatter era of Lucio Fulci was upon us. If its gore you are looking for you won’t come by very worthy here, while the Dusky Cat does have some violence it’s not very gory at all; the couple of gore scenes we acquire are very tame actually. I wouldn’t even call them gore scenes.
With The Dismal Cat Fulci focuses more on suspense; while we all have our beget thought I mediate a lot of people went into this movie expecting a gorefest. Lucio Fulci was a director who could develop his movies arrive out creepier than they should have, but it’s the gore is what really got fans talking. The Unlit Cat could have aged more of the red stuff; while the movie wasn’t poor it honest never had that creepy feel that some of Fulci’s other movies from this era did.

The cessation up of the eyes is a Lucio Fulci trademark; when mature legal that shot can be really effective and gain a scene very eerie. But here in The Shaded Cat, Fulci goes into stop up of the eyes overload. It seemed every other shot was a discontinuance up of the eyes. Honestly it can come by rather annoying after a while. The spy of the movie is well done for the most part; Sergio Salvati was the cinematographer and he worked with Fulci on some of his most current flicks of the 80s.
Lucio Fulci and Sergio Salvati are able to design a ample gape visually and are able to perform some scenes a runt creepier than maybe they should have been. The Unlit Cat really wasn’t a dreadful movie it’s your typical Lucio Fulci movie only without the gore. There were some decent moments of suspense and the movie is actually well made for the most fraction. At times The Gloomy Cat can shuffle and there are moments when it can be a bit dreary, but overall The Dusky Cat is delicious.
If you aren’t a fan of Lucio Fulci your best bet is probably to skip this, but if you are a fan or a some what fan of Fulci The Dim Cat is worth a gaze. Unbiased don’t interrogate any gore because you will be disappointed; while The Dark Cat lacks in some areas it is delicious for the most section. Not one of Lucio Fulci’s best, but not one his worst. The Dim Cat is a decent survey and has it’s moments.
The DVD from Blue Underground is the same sincere disc as the Anchor Bay version. So if you already hold the DVD there is no reason to consume another one.

Shiny, shiny, more shiny, plus characters and plot!![]()
I downloaded the Pilot for the simple reason that we had just gotten the TiVo all hooked up and registered and, at the time, the episode was free. Well, okay, it also helped that I wanted to say I’d seen it first, and I wanted to see how this whole downloadable TV thing worked.
I had seen previews for Chuck. The network had hyped it up so much, it was impossible to have missed it, but the previews did not impress me. I had no expectation of this show. I was thinking I would get halfway through the Pilot and then decide to watch something else.
The promos were wrong, wrong, wrong. They totally failed to highlight all of the wonderful things about this show — about this episode! It was smart and funny, with good performances and writing and directing, but the thing that most blew me away was the lighting and color.
The DOP for Chuck deserves some serious recognition. The show looks simply incredible. It’s so bright, it’s so colorful, and everything is lit in such a way that it reads beautifully on the screen. I probably got lost in just oohing and ahhing at the technical accomplishment of making a show this bright look this good a bit too much. Normally, shows seem to tend more towards dark, it seems to be somewhat easier to make dark look good.
I wasn’t too distracted by the shininess — I still had enough presence of mind to admire the characters and story. Chuck is endearing, very human, and the cast of crazy characters around him only serve to underscore how much of a person Chuck is, a person like any of us. It’s probably the show’s strongest selling point (aside from the shiny). Chuck may be in a world far beyond ours, but we can picture ourselves in his place.
Plus, the show is funny, and I laughed. It’s well worth watching every week.
Clumsy Nerdy Action![]()
Chuck is one of the shows that I am most looking forward to with the writers strike over. It is a great blend of comedy, nerdyness, action, and smoking hot women. Chuck is the head nerd at the Buy More, a Best Buyesque big box store. He has had a great deal of secret government information downloaded into his brain. He often flashes on people or things he sees, which crank up the action in the show. The cast is great and the balance between comedy and action is great. Chuck gets himself into all kinds of trouble and he often has to find creative ways to get himself back out. Check this show out Mondays on NBC and until it comes back catch up with episode on UNBOX.
Surprisingly delightful![]()
I didn’t expect to like this show but I do. I find it humorous that the store is named Buy More.
The romantic relationships are cute and predictable, just like they should be in a comedy.
The “spy stuff” is even comical.
I find it to be well written and an entertaining half hour.

Arguably the best crime film of 1968, and certainly one of the most influential films of the genre….”Bullitt” established current directions in the mood and style of crime thrillers, and firmly established McQueen as one of the key anti-hero stars of the 60′s. Based on the gritty original “Tranquil Seek” by Robert L. Pike, this was the first, and only, time McQueen portrayed a police officer (albeit a maverick one) in his movie career. In 1968 Steve was then riding high on the success of his previous heist film, “The Thomas Crown Affair”, and “Bullitt” fair propelled his star even higher into the cinematic heavens!

The place is tight, economical and well crafted….taciturn, mopish Detective Frank Bullitt (McQueen) is charged with the protection of a key peep indispensable to an upcoming trial attractive Mafia connections. Whilst hidden away in a supposed score space, the sight and his police guard are brutally gunned down by unknown assailants. The heat is turned up on Bullitt by his tough Captain (Simon Oakland) and the manipulative, opportunistic politician Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn) to arrive up with the moral answers fleet! Between the draining investigation, Bullitt struggles to possess his relationship with his cultured, sensitive girlfriend, Cathy (Jacqueline Bisset)
Primarily coming from a TV series background, Englishman Peter Yates (directing his fourth movie) did a commendable job as director on “Bullitt”…producing a complex, intense crime thriller with a new style that would ultimately influence many other films. Yates would later to go onto lisp tough guy Robert Mitchum in the obedient 1973 “sleeper” crime film “The Friends of Eddie Coyle”!

And of course “Bullitt” is reknowned for it’s now legendary car scamper between Frank Bullitt’s 390 GT Mustang and the two hitmen in their sunless, Dodge Charger 440 Magnum barrelling through the city streets and highways of San Francisco….unbiased don’t pay too powerful attention to how many times they pass that slow-moving, green VW Beetle!!
The DVD transfer is edifying in both sound and relate quality, and the Slight Edition Collectors Spot with the additional goodies (Single sheet poster, shooting draft, lobby cards etc.) is a right bonus for enthusiastic film fans!!
One of my favourite cop thrillers….McQueen sizzles on hide!!
I have read GQ and other men’s fashion magazines for the last 20 years. No single person is mentioned as a men’s style icon more often than Steve McQueen, and this movie defines his style most clearly. What I consider that is not often understood, is why his style is so beloved. It is minimalist, yes, but also, this is someone not playing the middle class America game.
1) He lives in a diminutive apartment. The furniture is ordinary, with a few hip 60′s touches. (Gaze for the report over his bed, his paisley bathrobe, the wintry paper hanging lampshade, and a couple of hippie style items on the walls) . You salvage the impression he owns about six pairs of clothes at most. He eats cheap frozen dinners (except for the occasional date at the chilly San Fran Restaurant) . He is not wasting this time and life keeping up with the Jones’s.
2.) He is not climbing the career ladder. On this case, he doesn’t give a notion to politics. He is not chasing the American ideal of success.
3.) Spy closely and you will spy his car, the most noted in any movie ever, is a olive drab color. Not candy apple gleaming red. It is a Mustang, a symbol of blue collar America. It is dusty, and he parks it in the street, not a garage. He does not peep it for door dings every time he goes out to it. It has dents in it. You find the impression he doesn’t employ his free time polishing and waxing it.
4.) He doesn’t use his time chasing money. He spends it on his job, trying to do what he thinks is legal, not what is excellent for office politics and promotion.
5.) His clothes are 60′s pre-hippie fashion perfection (examine for the extremely tapered legs, the suede loafers, and of course the distinguished tweed blazer and blue turtleneck) .
In summary, I judge it is laughable that people idolize McQueen’s personal style in this movie and yet they don’t realize why. It is not objective the stoicism, or minimalism. It is the worn fashion American values (judge Venerable West) . Fair something to judge about as you discover one of my well-liked movies of all time.

There can’t be powerful recount about the quality of this work. The staging, the singing, the technical brilliance of the hidef experience both visually and aurally are impeccable. As the review above eminent, no magic is fervent in this rendering of the Cinderella fable. Everything is worked out through the wisdom of Alidoro, the Prince’s weak tale counselor (sung brilliantly and with all due gravitas by Nathan Berg) . This makes it a comedy well within the human domain. The proper lessons are clear: vanity is illusive and will not abet us well, all of us must treat each other with kindness, virtue is rewarded, and forgiveness and admire heal all.
The characters are beautifully played and sung. Angelina (la cenerentola herself–Cinderella-sung by Ruxandra Donose) appropriately plays a somewhat withdrawn role at first but grows in vocal power and confidence throughout the opera . She emerges at the destroy as a brilliant beauty of radiant assert. The “disagreeable” stepsisters, Clorinda and Tisbe (Raquela Sheeran and Lucia Cirillo) are presented as very distinguishable comedic personalities whose voices often combine in bell-like harmonies. Don Magnifico, the contaminated stepfather, is played to big comedic carry out (Luciano Di Pasquale) as a buffoon who is cruel, terrorized, and self-delusive at the same time. His is a gem of a performance. (It is with this that we peruse one of the drawbacks of such high visual resolution: one can easily peer where the scalp shroud is joined to his temples. But then again, the characters and sets seem almost three-dimensional, so it is a obvious plus) . The Prince, Don Ramiro, (Maxim Mironov) is carefully constructed as a major character who must be less prominent than Cinderella herself, so he is a Rossini tenor, somewhere between tenor and counter-tenor. He is young, stunning, recognizes virtue and responds to it honorably, and sings well. Yet it is the other characters who dominate, including Dandini,(Simone Alberghini) the valet the Prince has commissioned to play him while the Prince stays in the background to see the reactions of the stepdaughters and anyone else hoping to be his bride.

Certainly this production shows off the glories of high definition BluRay, but it is the quality of the performances that should really sell this version to the public. For opera lovers, this Opus Arte presentation of the Glyndebourne production (almost always high quality from Glyndebourne and Opus Arte) is truly a must. It is not possible not to revel in this 3-hour delight. Do yourself a favor and pick up it; you’ll cherish it.
For several years I have owned the DVD release of this performance. Unprejudiced before the Blu-Ray copy arrived, I watched the whole DVD copy all the plan through and was impressed by the high musicality and well-behaved staging. The Prince stood out as a Rossinian singer of high excellence, who would be a credit to any stage.
After the Blu-Ray arrived I compared the two masterings with an spy to detail.
Visually, the Blu-Ray stands hand over fist above the DVD. Even with upscaling the DVD is fuzzy, and Jurowski comes across as a stern, smooth figure at the podium. With the extra clarity of the Blu-Ray report, the maestro’s petite facial expressions expose that he conducts by his charm as mighty as by his hand gestures. He possesses an inner conception of the humanity of this fraction of music, and exudes it during the overture. That revelation alone is worth the effect of the Blu-Ray disc.
Sonically, the Blu-Ray is a careful remix and clean-up of the novel tapes. On the DVD, two chairs can be heard to squeak on the floor a split second before Jurowski lowers his baton. Those distractions are gone on the Blu-Ray track. There is also better attention to volume level: the DTS track on the DVD becomes very harsh in the upper levels during the ensemble work, but everything balances nicely on the Blu-Ray.
I enjoyed the DVD very worthy but that was no reason to turn into a pumpkin: gather the Blu-Ray.

In the last 8 to 9 years Dr. Dyer’s message has changed significantly. He went from self encourage psychology to spiritual transformation. I got a runt lost. I tend to be a pragmatist…”give me proof” type person. His chronicle was a bit above my head. This film is very grand a anecdote of what he’s been trying to glean through. It helps connect the dots. It was also very nicely done, well acted, very nice scenery.

It’s a very generous film and I recommend it.
In 2000 I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Dyer at a seminar he was putting on at Washburn High School in Minneapolis. I doubt he’d remember who I am, there were hundreds of us. He stayed and talked to anyone and everyone that wanted to talk to him. It was hours! He is one of the most unruffled people that I have ever encountered. I can say that he practice what he preaches, he is in service of others. I consider I net it now,…Dr. Dyer…It took 9 years…but I derive it. Namaste! Thanks for the fine film.
The Shift is a continuation of Dr. Dyer’s original notion model: change your thoughts, and you can change your life. He tells us that our thoughts are vibrational in nature, and we attract into our life based on the vibration we are giving to the Universe.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Shift! Click Here
The movie is not abominable. But given the cost it might be better to check it out at your library.
The theme of the film is exquisite straight forward; Dr. Dyer is interviewed by a film crew about his spiritual model. The various personalities of those in the film crew mimic contemporary concerns found with most of us dealing with career and personal issues.
As the interview goes forward, we come by a spy of interpersonal issues represented by the characters in the film. The angst of the film director who regards this film gig with Dyer in some disdain. His cell is always going off interupting the interview with Dyer who is non-phased and rolls with the energy of the moment: one of the lessons of the film methinks.
Along with the issues of the film crew, the film is really three life dramas unfolding alongside of the main tale. We earn a gape of dysfunctional family issues with some side characters in the film who procure themselves at the crossroads of change. Essentially, the film is a backdrop to recall customary wisdom and apply it to new problems. The focal point is dyer answering questions in the interview which ties all the disparate pieces (issues) of the film together and those undergoing personal angst about their lives.
While I enjoyed the film and found it worthwhile, I mediate Lousie Hay’s film, You Can Heal Your Life, is far agreeable to this production. In that film Dr. Dyer is interviewed as are numerious other spiritual teahcers giving more inishgt into the novel plan paradigms.
This might be a better investment in my opinion.

Waiting for Guffman Movie Streaming.
Movie Title: Waiting for Guffman Waiting for Guffman is available for streaming or downloading. |
Waiting for Guffman is another extraordinary mockumentary from actor/director Christopher Guest (Spinal Tap, Best in Exhibit) and cowriter/partner in crime Eugene Levy. The film highlights the grand dreams and raw (very raw) talent of the five stars of ?Red, White and Blaine,? the celebratory musical commemorating Blaine, Missouri?s 150th anniversary.
The humor in Guffman is of the cut-above variety, founded on relationships and underlined by the characters? hopes. Guest plays Corky St. Clair, a refugee from Broadway who has found a niche for his special abilities as the de facto King of Theater in Blaine. Levy plays the town dentist who is auditioning for the very first time. Parker Posey is the perky, poignant and perhaps pathetic ingenue who works at the Dairy Queen. Catherine O?Hara and Fred Willard indicate the maxim that matching sweatsuits betray an poor marriage. Bob Balaban plays Lloyd Miller the music director who is grounded in reality, although his suggestion that the cast might consume some of the rehearsal time actually practicing the songs and dances is met with hostility. As an ex-theater major from Hays, Kansas I found the characters 100% true even while laughing at the absurdity of their opinion in the possibility that they might retract their indicate to Broadway.
The musical itself would do a gigantic cult movie in the vein of The Rocky Scare Report Reveal. The events commemorated include the settling of Blaine (in which a wagon convey leader manages to convince an entire group of people that they?ve already reached California), the famed UFO sighting and alien encounter, and the founding of the stool-making business which drove Blaine?s economy for generations.

The DVD is worth seeing objective for the extra features. The commentary by Guest and Levy is more informative than droll. I got the impression that they were distracted from the commentary by the brilliance of clear scenes in the movie. The extra scenes, however, were hilarious. Waiting for Guffman was shot from a bare-bones script and the actors were encouraged to improvise most of the dialogue. From over 60 hours of footage the best scenes were selected: three of the novel scenes that didn?t bag into the musical, an alternate ending for O?Hara and Willard, scenes with characters that never made it into the movie, and an explanation for why the dentist?s wife has a Wisconsin accent.
“Waiting for Guffman” is generally considered the follow-up to the now-legendary rockumentary “This is Spinal Tap.” Despite having a different director (this gem is directed by its star, Christopher Guest), iut has the same impress of straight-faced hilarity from one hysterical moment to the next. It’s one of the funniest and most underrated films of the 1990s.
The diminutive but proud town of Blaine Missouri (the “footstool capitol” of the world) is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a (for them) major celebration of civic pride. Self-exiled theatrical producer Corky St. Claire (Guest) happens to be living in this town, after the failure of his last Unique York exhibit (he almost burned it down) . Corky sees this as an opportunity to salvage serve to Broadway, by creating the historical musical “Red, White and Blaine.” In theory, the musical will outline the town’s history (complete with a visit by President McKinley and UFOs… on different occasions, of course) .
Corky is even more gratified when a Broadway scout, Mr. Guffman, is supposed to approach to gauge “Red White and Blaine’s” Broadway potential. This is his trace out of there… and ditto for the slightly outlandish citizens who are cast in the play: a deadpan Dairy Queen clerk (Parker Posey), a pair of bickering depart agents (Catherine O’Hara and Fred Willard), and a dentist with a indolent perceive (the incomparable Eugene Levy) . Despite a round of problems, cast losses, and the temporary loss of an irate Corky, the explain must go on. But will Mr. Guffman reach in time to gape it?
Buy,Download, Or Stream Waiting for Guffman! Click Here
In itsy-bitsy relatively unknown towns, the people often dream of broad things. Quite a few of them also have intense civic pride over stuff that nobody else could care less about (cleave circles? ) . The heart of “Waiting For Guffman” is poking fun at the absurdities of middle America, but not a cruel contrivance. You laugh with the “ship of fools,” not at them.
Every scene in this movie brims with deadpan hilarity — all the more striking because of all the ad-libbing that went on. The humor is not the fart-joke variety; it includes everything from Ron’s… well, reduction surgery to “We think ourselves bi-coastal if you mediate the Mississippi River one of the coasts.” It’s pure brilliance from beginning to raze — especially the demolish, when we earn to recognize the “Red White and Blaine” musical. Guest’s laughable talent is in paunchy bloom there.
Guest is the soul of this film — his flamboyant, arty theatrical producer is a astronomical fish trying to acquire out the runt pond. Fred Willard (in his usual grinning injurious dolt role) and Catherine O’Hara are hysterical as a not-so-happily married couple. And Eugene Levy — always a treat — is subtlely comical every time he makes his spy slip.
Underrated and brimming over with suited satire, “Waiting for Guffman” is rivalled only by “Spinal Tap.” A comedy adore.
