Wow. What a enormous DVD.

The one hour documentary featuring interviews with some of the cast, Robert Wise, Harold Prince, Sondheim, and some key crew members is completely bright. Home movie footage showing the filming of the movie is included. Examples of the techniques that the movie makers obsolete to film a musical are inviting. I was amazed that the knife scene, for example, is COMPLETELY counted out and the actor/dancers’ movements were choreographed down to the second (breath, two, three, four; stab, two three; scrutinize, two, three, four) . Fabulous! Rita Morena is particularly informative regarding the dubbing of her song “A Boy Like That”. The Robbins/Wise codirecting of the film is explained. And some of Natalie Wood’s unique vocals are included. The documentary is invaluable for fans of the film.

As for the film itself, it looks and sounds fantastic on my widescreen HDTV. The anamorphic transfer is very capable.

The DVD is packaged very well. The book which accompanies the region is very cold, with a colossal introduction by screenwriter Ernest Lehman (who is one of my movie heros) .

I’m very impressed with this special edition of WEST SIDE Tale. The film is a classic, and deserves such treatment.

“West Side Record” is proof that the sum of its parts can not only be greater than the whole, but possibly be the greatest!

Little known writer in Elizabethian England pens a drama about two star-crossed lovers. Flash ahead to the turbulent streets of Current York in the leisurely 1950s and early 60s. Turn feuding families to rival gangs. Add music, choreography, fabricate it significant. Then win a shiny director who knows what to exhibit, and eye as it takes home every Oscar it can.

First, you accept a large documentary on the making of the film. Titled “West Side Memories,” Principals like Sondheim, Moreno, Chakiris, Beymer and more sit before the cameras and clarify the process of preparing and executing what could be the finest example of the Hollywood Musical, ever. It’s a section that’s could have been a stand alone DVD, it’s so rich with insights.

You also net an though-provoking “Storyboard to Film” montage, where you inspect the artist’s renderings of the scenes, and how those shots looked when they appeared in the film. You obtain to explore these storyboards more carefully in several galleries on the disc. Lots of other goodies, like the theatrical trailers and photos galore… everything from Jerome Robbins’s cattle call for dancers to set shots during production!

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a massive book that comes with the residence, that includes the complete script of the film, the fresh lobby brouchure that theater patrons who attended the film received, which has more photos and info, and the newspaper clippings lauding the film as it took its state in movie musical story.

It’s simply a valentine to a considerable film, and a extraordinary package, all the diagram around.

Highly recommended.

The Future of Science Fiction 5*

I have seen the future of science fiction, and it is excellent, at least if this film has the influence it so richly deserves. Written science fiction is about so worthy more than the station opera and bug eyed monster tales and post-apocalyptic gotterdammerung that accomplish the bulk of filmic “sci fi” that it is friendly to glimpse the film world catching up. There have always been a few “exact” science fiction movies that demolish the mold — “A Boy and His Dog”, “2001″, “Blade Runner”, even “Charly” (though that butchered the unique fantastic Daniel Keys novella, the intent was there) near to mind. But most of those refer aid to classic science fiction written works. What is expansive about “Sleep Dealer” is that it takes the vision of obliging written SF, with an current site and theme, mixes it with the vocabulary of the special effects driven films that dominate the science fiction theater, and comes out with something astounding. I hope this is an indication that the novel generation of writers and directors (and not honest Hollywood budget types, but independent and “foreign” cinematographers) have absorbed this vocabulary to the point where it is simply another tool in their repertoir, and will continue to exercise it judiciously to whisper a modern generation of adult science fiction tales.

Sleep Dealer combines a cyberpunk vision of the approach future with a distinct social vision and a dynamite residence and characterizations. Memo (Fernando Pena, with a tilde) is a young man in a remote and dusty Oaxacan village, Santa Ana del Rio. His father struggles on to raise crops on the ancestral location since a gringo corporation dammed the local river … going to beg a few liters of water, he and Memo are faced with a remote control, talking gun at the fence. Memo dreams of leaving the dusty town, and has a Rube Goldberg radio setup (with a manual “Hacking for Beginners” icon smile Watch Sleep Dealer Movie Online that he uses to listen to communications from the outside world, in best cyberpunk fashion. One day he overhears com between a drone pilot and his defective, but they detect him. He cuts the connection, but shortly thereafter, while he and his brother are away at a party, they survey a TV broadcast of an American drone pilot’s first mission, going after “aqua terrorists”

Memo flees to Tijuana to earn money for his family as a plugged in worker — the US border is totally shut down, so Mexicans toil by remote control from south of the border, using robots to the north. On the bus North, Memo meets Luz (Leonor Varela), a handsome young woman who is trying to produce a living as a ‘writer’, jacking in and transcribing her memories directly into cyberspace for others to lift. She ‘writes’ a vignette of having met Memo, and what cramped of his narrative he told her. When he is mugged, she offers to derive him the implanted nodes which will let him work .. and turns out to be able to do the “coyoteka’s” work herself. Luz’s writeup of Memo has an interested customer, who wants more material and she sees Memo again and again. Luz finds herself falling for him as he does for her. Eventually, they are brought together with the phantom customer, and the film winds to a surprising but seemingly inevitable conclusion.

.

Sleep Dealer is replete with nice runt touches, such as the drone pilot being of Latino descent, from a military family; or the company Memo works for, Cybracero (cyber + bracero) . The special effects may not be residence of the art, but are perfectly adequate to the purpose at hand, that of telling Memo’s sage and presenting the world he lives in. And that world is very carefully imagined, firmly grounded in the realities of today.

In the press kit, which is available on line, director Alex Rivera describes Sleep Dealer as “a humble film … an unbiased attempt to expend science-fiction film to say something modern, and something proper, about our world today.” He has succeeded in spades. A very keen 5 *’s.

Quote 1: When they dammed up the river, they reduce off our future. (Memo’s father)

Quote 2: “… and blow the hell out of the dreadful guys.” (drone demonstrate host)

2008 Sundance Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and Alfred P. Sloan Prize.

This tiny sleeper of a movie winds together more different strands than any I’ve seen in ages. It variously explores American isolationism combined with a expect for immigrant labor, the rise of a commercial military, novel kinds of sweat shops, armed escalation of the water wars, and the irony of social networking (in the electronic sense) . As people interact more by wire, eventually, the wires become essential for interacting even in person.

The major location elements seem familiar – ancient society failing under pressure from the novel work, and the boy trying to encourage his family by working in the tremendous city. A relatively unusual stereotype appears, too: the soldier who we approach to respect, even when he fights in a war that we don’t.

This succeeds at many levels. It can be seen as an anti-American, anti-corporate diatribe, or as a grim extrapolation of today’s headlines. Either scheme, it carries reminders that people will mild approach out to each other, and that personal honor will continue to have meaning.

Bizarrely, NBC debuted two original series in 2006-2007 that were behind-the-scenes looks at fictional TV shows that bore wonderful resemblences to SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Aaron Sorkin’s STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP, the more highly touted of the two, did situation its fictional SNL on the West Flee, but never really caught on with critics or with many fans and was eventually cancelled. On the other hand, 30 ROCK was an immediate hit with critics and gradually built more and more of a fan wicked. Though the ratings were never especially strong, NBC has perhaps the best track report of any original network for sticking with quality shows and attempting to nurture a fan atrocious (on any other network both 30 ROCK and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS would have been cancelled well before the ruin of the season) . Hopefully more fans will perceive this generous prove and its long term future will be assured.

While the Sorkin series had very tenuous SNL credentials, 30 ROCK’s are iron clad. It was created and produced by SNL conventional Tina Fey, who along with Gilda Radner is possibly the most gifted female performer the prove has produced. Lorne Michaels serves as a producer, Tracy Morgan is one of the major stars on the present, and a long line of SNL performers appear as guest stars on the present. Rachel Dratch has appeared in so many episodes (albeit as a number of different characters, from Liz Taylor to a Cat Wrangler) that she could almost be considered a regular. It wouldn’t be quite fair to call this a SNL wander off, but it comes as end as possible to being that without actually being one.

The explain started off as very silly from the very beginning, but it evidenced one of the marks of a qualified show: it got better and better as it went along. While the writing and the jokes are gripping from the very beginning, the expend of the characters got really gracious in the second half. One of the marks of a edifying exhibit is that the second half of the debut season is better than the first half. And this one certainly did.

The ensemble cast is absolutely first rate, but three people really stand out. Tina Fey is not only the driving force late the note, she is toothsome as Liz Lemon, the head writer for THE GIRLIE Indicate, the fictional series they all work on. Alec Baldwin is shockingly agreeable as Jack Donaghy, the NBC executive who oversees. He will be obvious to gain an Emmy nomination, something he will definitely deserve. But for me the funniest thing on the present is Tracy Morgan as an insane (literally) movie actor who joins the indicate. The overall atmosphere is one of surreal chaos.

I hope the present really takes off with fans this coming season. NBC’s Thursday night line up of shows is perhaps the best group of really lustrous comical series ever. Attend when they promoted “Must Gaze TV” (which I never watched), they relied mainly on sit coms filmed in front of live audiences. But the novel line up features filmed comedies that are gleaming, humorous, and a hoot to see. And for me they are really are, in disagreement to the FRIENDS era, shows that I really feel I must gawk.

Okay..

I contemplate TV stinks. A excellent friend of mine kept trying to net me to perceive this explain and I honest wasn’t fervent. For some reason I picked up this site and in a matter of a few days blasted through the whole season. This is ridiculously comic AND intellectual stuff. I am absolutely petrified that the lead actress, Tina Fey, is also the creator AND the writer!! If you don’t know unprejudiced how insane that is….all I can say is its humbling to peruse such an fantastic talent. If your IQ reaches triple digits you will Esteem this demonstrate. Like all mammoth sitcoms and this IS grand…it operates on several levels and has multiple tale lines working that all integrate perfectly. The acting is amazing as the cast was assembled well and I must add that Alec Baldwin is impartial so amusing its monstrous.

The second season of Star Trek: one of television’s most cherished programs of all time and the precursor to an additional five television series and eleven feature-length films arrives on Blu-ray with high expectations to meet or surpass the lofty standards station by the first season’s astonishing Blu-ray release. It should arrive as no surprise that season two picks up exactly where its predecessor left off, boasting a extraordinary array of quality episodes presented with stunning 1080p transfers, full-fledged DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless soundtracks, and plenty of bonus features.

Arguably the most primary of any Star Scamper season throughout the franchise’s entire 29 season rush, season two of the Current Series status the stage for a myriad of themes, yarn lines, and characters that would gather their scheme into Star Scurry lore in the 40 years after the season’s recent television debut on September 15, 1967.

Superficially, this season’s most distinct contribution to “Star Race” lore lies in the introduction of Pavel Chekov (portrayed by Walter Koenig) as a vital cast member. Arguably debuting too slow in the series’ bustle, his absence in the season one episode “State Seed” but integral role in the history of Eugenics War villain Khan Noonien Singh as seen in the 1982 filmed sequel The Wrath of Khan represents one of Star Trek’s most glaring inconsistencies, perhaps the only flaw to be found in my celebrated Star Whisk movie.

Season Two of Star Lag features what I deem is the most loved episode of them all, “The Difficulty With Tribbles.” Featuring the franchise’s best-known non-humanoid species, making for its funniest episode, and serving as the inspiration for the highly-innovative Star Trek: Deep Plot Nine episode “Trials and Tribble-ations” that stands as one of that show’s finest hours to be found outside the Dominan War anecdote arc, “Tribbles” is simply Star Slump at its finest.

Video 9.5 out of 10

The Video Transfer

CBS gave the Blu-ray release a impress original video encode at 1080p, compressed with VC-1, with pillar boxing to sustain the new 4:3 aspect ratio.

Also what about those unusual digital special effects shots that have been such a hot topic? They have never looked better.

The astronomical thing about these Blu-ray sets is the seamless branching, so you can decide which plot you want to perceive, with the new effects, or the unusual. Season two of Star Flow comes onto Blu-ray with an expectedly stellar 1080p, 1.33:1-framed transfer that preserves the series’ current broadcast aspect ratio and places vertical sad bars on either side of the image when replayed on a 16X9 mask.

Though it can a bit soft at times, seemingly a fault of the source and not the Blu-ray transfer, there’s not a moment where this presentations fails to absolutely effect. It boasts a moderately heavy layer of grain throughout; effects shots as seen in the non-remastered versions are in particularly rough shape, though given the source material and the composition of the novel effects, there’s no need to fault the transfer and the rough-around-the-edges sight lends a charm to the proceedings that’s absent from the remastered versions.

Colors tend to jump off the hide with the natural appearance of every shade in the spectrum, highlighted by the mustard, red, and baby blue colors of the Starfleet uniforms. In addition, dazzling object detail is most impressive. Viewers will become privy to Spock’s heavy make-up and the many beads of sweat that often appear on Dr. McCoy’s face. A scar on Mirror Universe Sulu’s face features an astonishing amount of visible clarity and texture. Uniforms, too, are highly detailed; eagle-eyed viewers will gawk stitches, loose threads, a zipper that runs from the side of the neck and down, and even the faint residue of a Starfleet insignia patch that was removed on one particular red uniform in “Mirror, Mirror.”

The clarity of the 1080p resolution even allows you to manufacture out clear stunt doubles in several long-distance action scenes. Blacks are generally solid but occasionally peep a bit too colorful, but flesh tones never veer too far from a natural shade. A runt amount of luminous and the occasional speckle of dirt are the only exact hindrances to an otherwise stellar transfer.

Audio 10 out of 10

CBS has done an wonderful job with the sound on the Blu-ray space. Audio is powerful harder to restore and squeeze extra clarity from as compared to film, so it is quite a testament to the technology we have today that these discs sound as superior as they do. The audio is stored as DTS-HD Master Audio which is a lossless compression, which means this is as agreeable as it will gain and is available in 7.1 lossless soundtrack.

Just like Season One, the audio is obvious, with dialogue well prioritized, it is never drowned out by other sound effects. Another well designed touch is the sense of ambiance mixed into the surround channels. When on the bridge you are engulfed in the sounds of ship.

However purists are again considered as CBS included the mono track as well. It can accessed by choosing Communications in the main menu and then selecting Audio Options.

The remastered blu-ray version also has a significantly greater sense of region and atmosphere. Listeners will often hear the hustle and rush of the ship in the background as characters high-tail and talk about the bridge and Enterprise corridors, whether during calmer shots or more intense action sequences.

Extras

Each disc in this situation contains bonus features, though some discs are far more feature-packed than others. Additionally, each episode is available for viewing with either fresh or enhanced special effects.

Disc One

Disc one begins with Starfleet Access in conjunction with the episode “Amok Time.” This is a picture-in-picture feature that offers an extensive background on the episode via video commentary with various Star Sprint crew members and historians. The fraction also features pop-up trivia tidbits. Also included on this disc is Billy Blackburn’s Savor Chest, the second fragment of a collection of “rare home movies and special memories” as recorded on the region of Star Go by the recurring background character.

Along with numerous clips from the expose, Blackburn recalls his varied experiences on the residence through many of the different episodes that populate season two. Rounding out the special features on disc one are previews for each episode on the disc and BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality.

Disc Two

Only previews for the episodes that appear on this disc and BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality are included on this disc.

Disc Three

As with disc two, disc three features only 480p previews for the episodes that appear on this disc and BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality.

Disc Four

Disc four is entirely devoted to Tribbles. “The Difficulty With Tribbles” is the only novel series episode to be found on the disc, and available with it is a feature-length commentary track with David Gerrold, writer of the renowned episode. Also included is Starfleet Access, the picture-in-picture commentary/trivia track.

Perhaps the best feature on the disc is the inclusion of two additional Tribble-related episodes: “More Tribbles, More Troubles” from “Star Trek: The Spicy Series,” and “Trials and Tribble-ations” from Star Trek: Deep Site Nine. The frail, featuring David Gerrold commentary, is presented in 1080p high definition with a 1.33:1 aspect ratio and a DTS-HD MA 7.1 soundtrack. The episode runs for 24:13. The video and audio quality are improbable and bode well for a possible future Blu-ray release of the entire series. Meanwhile, “Trials and Tribble-ations” features a 1080i, 1.33:1 aspect ratio that I feel is no better than the same episode’s upscaled DVD counterpart. The episode does feature a DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless soundtrack.

Trials and Tribble-ations: Uniting Two Legends takes viewers deep into the episode’s notion. It features plenty of cast and crew interview clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and segments from the completed episode. Trials and Tribble-ations: An Historic Endeavor is a similar share that looks at how the episode came about, focusing this time on the special effects that made the explain work. Star Trek: TOS on Blu-ray is a fraction featuring a panel of Niel R. Wray, Denise and Michael Okuda, Dave Rossi, and later, Writer David Gerrold, delves into the creation of the Blu-ray residence and why it makes for an improvement over previous releases. Also included is the preview for “The Distress With Tribbles.”

Disc Five

‘To Boldly Go…’ Season Two is a retrospective share that looks wait on on “The Peril With Tribbles,” Chekov’s character, the stories gradual “Amok Time” and “Mirror, Mirror,” how Star Bound integrated the issues of the 1960s into Science Fiction, and more. Also included are the previews for each episode on the disc and BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality.

Disc Six

The principal supplement on disc six is Designing the Final Frontier is a gape at the site designs for many of the episodes throughout Star Trek’s three-season rush. Also included are the previews for each episode on the disc and BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality.

Disc Seven

The final disc in this situation begins with ‘Star Trek’s’ Popular Moments in which features both fans and the cast and crew of the various Star Lumber series recalling their current episodes and the series’ influence on their lives. Writer’s Notebook: D.C. Fontana looks at the well-known role of writers, editors, and the script itself on Star Scuttle.

Life Beyond Trek: Leonard Nimoy, features the actor discussing what he’s been up to since “Star Dash.” Next up is Kirk, Spock, & Bones: Star Trek’s Astronomical Trio is a recognize befriend on the chemistry between the famous characters. Star Trek’s Divine Diva: Nichelle Nichols features the actress looking relieve on her character. Also included are the previews for each episode on the disc, BD-Live and Mobile-Blu functionality, and the enhanced visual effects credits.

I feel that season two of Star Slither is the best of the current series and I also feel that it is the most indispensable in the franchise’s long history. Completing the cast by adding Pavel Chekov and debuting characters, setting trends, and introducing themes that would remain throughout Star Hump for a long time.

This is the ultimate edition of a beloved classic, whether you’re a purist or someone that likes the current special effects. The remastered series was meant to be seen in HD.

Star rush has been written about probably more than any note. From its countless pop culture references, to it examination of political and social commentaries, Star Mosey has been talked about ad nauseam. Given the substantial amount of writings, in some ways, its almost arrogant to try and add something current. However, if you’re reading this, you’re probably not as eager in a review of the series and episodes as distinguished as you’re keen in whether the Blu Ray is worth getting. I will say this unique Blu-ray is something rather special. The recount is improbable, and I feel almost like I’m watching the present again for the first time, kind of like when you’ve heard a joke a hundred times, but then one day you hear it a dinky different and you laugh, like its novel but familiar as well.

However, the wretchedness is that the Blu ray is almost too generous. I can utter when the beget up meshes with exact skint. I can whisper when a punch misses the target. In fact, the Blu Ray is so positive that you can actually seek and clearly identify the stunt doubles as they are intermixed with the finish up of kirk or whoever is fighting. So your interest in the Blu ray may vary. While the show’s strengths in account and acting are highlighted, the weaknesses of the technology are made the more apparent. That being said, I savor having the ability to glance both the current and former effects addition, as well as the slew of special features included makes this a must have for me.

I was a small hesitant going into this: having read the new a couple of times and declared it my maintain, I had long fondly imagined the scenes and characters without any need for assistance, thank you very noteworthy.

Consequently, I felt the contrivance many Tolkien fans must have felt before those three modern movies came out: leery that my coveted imaginings would be sullied by what might exhibit to be a jarrring and irreversible contamination.

These fears were misplaced, however. The fat vitality of Dickens’s bittersweet classic — all the heaping joys and sorrows of life — comes through quite powerfully in this pretty BBC version. After about 25 minutes I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Oh, and speaking of this version: they spent some money on it, you’ll be delighted to know. It’s not one of those innumerable stuffy BBC dramas that select site (for budget considerations if nothing else) in an intolerable series of drawing rooms and antechambers. No, they did this one right: the blokes went outside and built some obedient sets, and it shows.

Yes, though fully prepared to abhor it, I win myself here with microscopic ammunition for complaint. I wish Traddles hadn’t suffered deletion; he is one character I have inconvenience picturing and could have obsolete some aid. Also, the actress who played Dora was not exactly my concept of her . . . but this is nitpicking.

Originally airing in the U.S. on PBS’s Masterpiece Theatre, I came across this one night during a fit of cable boredom. Thinking it would allow me to raze some time until something “valid” came on I started watching. An hour and a half later I was cueing up my home video tape to insure that I would not miss the next night’s conclusion! I could not wait to seek it! I have read Charles Dickens and I am especially fond of Colossal Expectations but could never quite throw myself fully into David Copperfield. This is a shame since Copperfield is supposed to be Dickens’ pseudo autobiography. I found the photography visual moving with the feeling of the time period masterful rendered. The acting was large (Hoskins is droll) with the boy who plays young Copperfield a obvious standout. The memoir finally comes to life and the status and its intricacies are finally revealed (to those who lack the patience to read the book!) . Copperfield is truly a rags to riches yarn in a very convuluted and ironic manner, very great like life itself. Young Copperfield must originate his contrivance in the world after his widowed mother passes away and he is left to the whims of his ill tempered and miserly step-father and step-aunt. How Copperfield goes from being a neglected, uncared for urchin to a well concept of writer will have you watching in fascination. Of course, along the intention he has several adventures and makes friends with quite a few vivid and tragic characters. If you haven’t had the inclination to actually read this sage, this is definitely the video version you should scrutinize. I liked it so remarkable I unprejudiced have to enjoy the tapes (2 tape spot) . Enough said. Go behold it now!

The title STALKER is quite misunderstood because many believe it is a translation from a Russian word that means ‘to stalk.’. Actually Tarkovsky’s script inserted the word STALKER thinking it was a catchy English equivalent for something like a Russian pathfinder or guide. In that context, the central character’s role is better understood, for he spends time leading the writer and scientist toward discovery and revelation, which they ultimately cannot conclude. STALKER is a masterpiece of imposed reality on the viewer. Get no mistake: this film is very difficult to cease with without your utmost attention. Limited artifice, few physical elements, hardly any dwelling, STALKER exists as a dash that draws your mind, heart, and soul into the nature of human existence. Only those colorful and sensitive enough to bolt Tarkovsky’s waves of feeling, emotion, and idea can comprehend his message of possible salvation and redemption through adore and persistent searching for human truth. The writing on the video box implies this is another sci fi film, but clearly it is not. Tarkovsky’s big films are mythical allegories in the tradition of Pilgrim’s Progress or Piers Plowman. For me, Tarkovsky is the ultimate challenge in vivid film making, because he presents and discusses his ideas only in the context of the film itself, not unbiased as a media vehicle to hiss. What strikes me most is his absolutely consistent sense of breeze in all his films: expressionless, deliberate, but fluid and highly organic. He is one of the few immense masters of film as an art get.

This is a film about faith, divine grace and the fruitless vanity stemming from our soul’s novel sin. To quote from one of the characters in the film,” My mind preaches vegetarianism, but my heart longs for a juicy fraction of steak.” And this is the premise of the three characters poke into the Zone – to gape out their steak: to obtain the Room in the Zone that will grant them their wishes; and this coming from the very same people whose professions demands higher standards of good living from them, careers that require them to preach vegetarianism. Of course they have failed in their lives professions, and the characters know this but their inner chaos stem from the private effort in their lives, their failure to live up to their calling and their denial/certainty about their indivisual failures and states of their tarnished souls. Although Stalker is someone who leads others into the the Zone as a guide, his purpose apparently being to befriend others gather their wish and thus bring about happiness for others, yet Tarkovsky hints that Stalker’s outward explaination is dubious as he will not hesitate to originate scapegoats and guinea pigs of his clients in the face of uncertainty and exertion. As for Writer, he is, yes, a writer who is going into the Zone to gape and beg for inspiration and faith in life as a whole; until Writer can net this wish, his cynicism and lack of faith can be summed up in one of his quotes:” A writer can only write about his readers.” Professor is a scientist whose reason for seeking out the Room is unspecified until at the very destroy of the film but I will not remark his reason. He is a researcher who has to beget his boss’s fury and defintely hates his job at the lab. Many tremendous cinematic moments are to be found in the film, in fact the film is one grand cinematic moment non-stop, even after it ends, and this can be attributed to Tarkovsky’s shimmering handling of every aspect of the film; one can even go so far as to say that with this film tarkovsky proved that he is easily the Einstein of cinema. His vision is earth shattering, deviating almost completely from the new intentions of the writers of a new on which the film was based. The ending when it is revealed the reason why one of the guides of the Zone hanged himself despite obtaining a wish from the Room will blow away anyone who lives in the frustrated knowledge of life and all our mortal desires as an empty vainity of vanities without the presence of God and selfless like. The editing, location designs, music and lighting, the human choreography, the wisdom and everything in this film qualifies it as the best film ever made. Totally unique without trying to be. If you only witness one film for the rest of your life this has to be it! It will gain you want to live better, stirring profound thoughts and feelings within you long after the film’s over. This is more than a film, it’s almost a miracle. The British impress ARTIFICIAL Scrutinize apparently has better English subtitles and shows the complete film without cuts unlike the American version, or so I read.
